Website: www.ideametrics.co.in Position Category: Engineering Design Role: Structural Design Engineer Functional Area: Engineering Design Qualification: BE/BTech/ ME/MTech Mechanical or Civil Structural or related Engineering with a certified course in Staad Pro Desired Industrial Background Experience: Oil and Gas / Energy / Power / Infrastructure / Food / Pharma 0 to 3 years of experience in relevant technology Technical Skills required: Expert-level knowledge on the use of Staad Pro, Strong knowledge of more than one relevant Mechanical industry code/standards (e.g., IS, AISC, etc.) related to structural design. Exposure to the design of structures for refinery/petrochemicals/food/pharma or power plants is required. Should have sound fundamentals in structural steel engineering. Special Skills required: Experienced user of computer programs like MS Office. Should be a team player with a proactive approach. Should have good communication and leadership skills. Should be able to work under pressure and manage deliveries on time. Should be able to work for an extended time to ensure timely deliveries Role and Responsibilities: Study and interpret Basic Engineering Design Documents (BEDD), project specifications, and P&IDs to extract necessary structural design inputs. Perform structural analysis and design of supporting structures for static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, storage tanks, columns, and reactors. Design and validate equipment foundations, saddle supports, platforms, access structures, pipe racks, and other structural systems. Ensure design adequacy for various load conditions, including dead load, live load, wind, seismic, thermal, blast, and equipment operating loads. Evaluate nozzle loads, equipment center-of-gravity, and operating weight to ensure structural adequacy and stability. Perform and review engineering calculations, structural stress analysis, and develop detailed reports/documentation. Check and review structural design drawings and documents prepared by CAD teams. Coordinate and review equivalent 3D models to ensure design compliance and clash-free integration with other disciplines. Perform code checks using relevant national and international standards (IS, AISC, API, ASCE, etc.). Conduct feasibility checks and resolve design inconsistencies or client comments through value engineering. Participate in internal and client design reviews, providing technical justifications and support. Collaborate with mechanical, piping, civil, and process teams to ensure seamless integration of structural systems with overall plant layout. Maintain proper documentation of all calculations, design iterations, and revisions for project traceability and audits.
