Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Structural Design & Analysis

• Perform structural analysis and design for buildings and infrastructure
  
• Calculate loads (dead, live, wind, seismic, thermal)
  
• Design structural elements (foundations, beams, columns, slabs, walls)
  
• Optimize designs for safety, durability, and cost efficiency
  

2. Codes, Standards & Compliance

• Ensure designs comply with relevant building codes and standards
  
• Prepare calculations and documentation for approvals
  
• Address regulatory and authority requirements
  

3. Drawings & Documentation

• Prepare and review structural drawings and details
  
• Coordinate drawings with architectural and MEP designs
  
• Produce technical reports, calculations, and specifications
  

4. Software & Technical Tools

• Use structural analysis and design software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD)
  
• Apply BIM and CAD tools (Revit, AutoCAD, Tekla)
  

5. Construction Support & Site Supervision

• Provide technical support during construction
  
• Conduct site inspections to ensure works follow approved drawings
  
• Resolve site-related structural issues and design changes
  

6. Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers
  
• Participate in design coordination and project meetings
  
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and site staff
  

7. Quality, Safety & Risk Management

• Ensure structural safety and integrity
  
• Review materials and construction methods
  
• Identify and mitigate structural risks
  

8. Value Engineering & Optimization

• Propose alternative structural systems and materials
  
• Improve constructability and cost efficiency
  
• Support sustainable and resilient design practices
  

9. Professional & Ethical Responsibilities

• Maintain professional standards and engineering ethics
  
• Keep up to date with industry developments and codes
  
• Support continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
