Job Description

Seeking a strategic-minded Social Media Manager to lead the social media presence for our news-media company in Dehradun. The ideal candidate will drive our brand’s digital growth, manage all social platforms, and engage audiences through dynamic, news-related content.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop and execute comprehensive social media strategies tailored to news and regional trends.
  • Manage daily publishing and scheduling on major platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, YouTube, WhatsApp, Threads, others).
  • Create, edit, and promote timely news posts, stories, reels, and carousels to maximise audience engagement.
  • Monitor news cycles, react to emerging topics, and ensure real-time coverage of relevant stories.
  • Foster positive community interaction — responding to comments, moderating discussions, and addressing audience queries.
  • Analyse and report social media metrics (engagement, reach, follower growth) to optimise campaigns and drive performance.
  • Oversee paid social media campaigns, influencer outreach, and collaboration with editorial/design teams.
  • Ensure consistent brand voice, journalistic accuracy, and platform-appropriate content.
  • Stay updated with social media trends, tools, algorithm changes, and best industry practices.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a relevant field (preferred).
  • Minimum 0–3 years’ experience managing social media platforms for news, media, or digital brands.
  • Proficiency in content creation, scheduling tools (Meta Suite, Buffer, Hootsuite), analytics, and digital storytelling.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and visual content skills.
  • Strong organisational ability, adaptability, and a passion for current events and community building.
  • Knowledge of regional languages and culture (preferred for Dehradun market).
  • Valuable Additional Skills
  • Experience with video and reel editing.
  • Exposure to paid media, influencer campaigns, and live event coverage.
  • Multi-platform communication and crisis management ability.
