About The Client:

Essential Job Functions:

• Building data pipelines:
• Design, build, and maintain observability data pipelines to ingest metrics, logs, and traces, ideally using the OpenTelemetry (OTEL) standard.
• Scripting & Automation:
• Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools to streamline core SRE tasks, such as managing customer accounts, provisioning new data sources, and deploying updates.
• You'll use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform to ensure consistent and reproducible delivery.
• Instrumenting applications:
• Work with development teams to instrument applications using
• OpenTelemetry, ensuring the collection of necessary data for effective monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Observability Migration and Standardization:
• The migration of existing dashboards, alerts, and monitoring configurations to our new observability platform.
• Standardize these practices by identifying patterns and creating reusable code and templates using IaC tools.
• Data validation:
• Ensuring the migrated data is accurate, complete, and formatted correctly for the new platform.
• This involves running validation tests and comparing data between the old and new systems.
• Documentation:
• Create comprehensive documentation and guidelines to streamline the onboarding of new teams and applications.

Qualifications:

Skills & Experience

Observability:

• Proven experience with a range of observability platforms such as New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, and Grafana

OpenTelemetry:

• Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry for collecting and exporting telemetry data (metrics, logs, and traces).

Coding and Scripting:

• Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language like Python, Go, or Java.
• Shell scripting (e.g., Bash) is also desired for system administration tasks.
• Experience with coding assistants like Co-Pilot

Infrastructure as Code (IaC):

• Solid understanding and practical experience with Terraform, Ansible, or other Configuration Management tools for managing infrastructure and deployments.

Cloud Platforms:

• Solid expertise with a major cloud provider such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is expected.
• Knowledge of their native monitoring and logging tools is a plus.

Containerization and Orchestration:

• Experience in managing containerized applications is a plus.
• This includes hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and orchestration tools like Client ECS or Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). Observability Migration Engineer
