Job Description

Reporting to the Creative Production Director, the Senior Editor (Social-First) is a key creative voice who brings storytelling to life across fast-moving, highly shareable formats. You will play a key role in shaping content that earns attention, whether that’s through smart editing choices, platform-native ideas, or thumb-stopping visuals that resonate with specific online communities.

You’ll combine strong craft in editing and motion design with an intuitive understanding of social culture - trends, humor, tone, and timing - to make content people want to share. You’ll also mentor other editors, help evolve our AI-assisted workflows, and ensure each piece of work reflects Jellyfish’s creative and technical excellence.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Creative edits for social-first and creative campaigns, ensuring high-quality, platform-relevant execution.

• Develop innovative editing and motion strategies that drive engagement across TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, and emerging formats.

• Craft thumb-stopping edits that respect the nuances of pacing, aspect ratio, and storytelling unique to each platform.

• Collaborate with producers, designers, and creatives to ideate, adapt, and localize content that feels authentic across markets and communities.

• Mentor (junior) editors, fostering experimentation, trend awareness, and creative confidence.

• Implement and refine AI-driven workflows to increase speed, personalization, and scalability of content.

• Keep a pulse on internet culture, communities, and emerging creative tools - and translate those insights into new approaches for clients.

Requirements:

• 6+ years of experience in post-production, agency, or social content environments.

• Proven experience in social-first editing (showreel should demonstrate strong sense of timing, cultural awareness, and platform fluency).

• Solid experience in After Effects, Premiere Pro, and familiarity with motion graphics and video automation workflows.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate across creative and production teams.

• Experience working with global brands and adapting content to different languages and markets.

• Self-starter mindset: if a lead is unavailable, you find a solution - and share that learning.

• An inspired, curious, and creative mindset, always exploring new ideas and tools.

Essential skills:

• Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop; Bonus: Illustrator, Figma, Davinci Resolve).

• Well-versed in building MOGRTs in After Effects for use in Premiere, enabling the rapid creation of easily customisable animated assets.

• Possessing a strong technical eye for reviewing After Effects and Premiere projects, and pinpointing opportunities to streamline them for automation.

• Deep understanding of codecs, proxy workflows, project & data management, and remote & cloud collaboration.

• Basic understanding of colour matching and colour correction.

• Deliver a high-quality audio mix or knowledge on how to prepare and package the project perfectly for a professional sound designer.

• Excellent knowledge of post-production workflows and QC processes for social and high-volume content.

• Strong understanding of platform culture - from trend cycles to community humor.

• Storytelling instincts that balance brand voice with authentic tone.

• Interest in how AI can enhance creative workflows (from captioning to editing and versioning).
