About the Role!

If so, Uber Finance Tech (FinTech) is for you!The FinTech team at Uber builds technology solutions and services that enable Uber's new business growth through automation and self service, the monthly closing of books, quarterly wall street reporting, provides Billing (Invoices, Receipts) services to our earner partners and ensures regulatory compliance worldwide.Through our products, we aim to provide Uber competitive advantage to do its Financial Planning, Forecasting & Analysis, Cost optimization, Revenue computation, Payables management and Global tax calculation.The Fintech micro services processed the transactions required for accounting, revenue, settlement and invoicing for the 1.45 billion trips taken globally at Uber in 2021 Q1.Our team is looking to hire thought leaders who will drive architectural and design choices, invent new features, develop distributed services, and build scalable, service-oriented platforms handling Uber's trip scale.We have a team culture that encourages innovation and we expect developers and management alike to take a high level of ownership for the product vision, technical architecture, and project delivery.Check out the exciting opportunities we have available.

What The Candidate Will Do

Actively seek out the engineering and business problems, solve them with little to no guidance.
Take the larger vision or challenge and break it down into strategies and plans including trade-offs, convergence, and closure across teams required to realize the vision.
Be a role model on acting with good judgment and responsibility. Engineers across the organization will look to you on how best to plan and execute on projects.
Raise the bar on sustainable engineering by improving best practices, producing best in class of code, documentation, testing, and monitoring rolling out the next generations of our fintech systems
Be a humble mentor and trusted advisor for both our talented team members and passionate leaders alike. Deal with differences in opinion in a mature and fair way, helping teams to commit and move forward.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
10+ years of experience in professional software development with detailed inside-out knowledge of the general programming languages e.g. Java, Go, C/C++, Python.
5+ years of experience in the design and solution of distributed systems operating at Uber's scale (~5k qps and 100m transactions per day)
Professional software experience on optimal setup and usage of data stores like Cassandra, DynamoDB, Redis and MQs like Kafka
Passion for driving continual improvement initiatives on engineering best practices like coding, testing or monitoring
Solid technical leadership abilities, and comfortable working with various stakeholders to ensure adoption/impact
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write detailed technical documents
Passionate about helping teams grow by inspiring and mentoring engineers

Preferred Qualifications

Master's or PhD degree in in Computer Science or related field
Experience working in the Fintech, Payments industry including exposure of projects requiring complex regulatory and compliance.
Experience working with the big data technologies Hadoop. Hive etc
Expert and hands-on understanding of fault-tolerant systems and multi-datacenter/cloud architectures.
