Role Overview:
We are looking for a Retail Consultant with strong expertise in store operations, store technologies, and solution consulting to support clients in transforming their physical retail environments for omnichannel experience and cost optimization. The ideal candidate will work in a client-facing, advisory capacity within an IT services organization, helping define and deliver innovative technology-led solutions that improve store efficiency, customer engagement, and digital integration.
This role is critical in shaping client strategy around “Store of the Future” initiatives — combining AI, IoT, Mobility, Cloud POS, RRID, Computer Vision, Inventory Solutions and automation to build connected, intelligent, and responsive retail stores.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work with clients to analyze business needs, assess current systems, and define target operating models for store operations
• Lead consulting engagements and workshops to design future-ready store solutions across technology, process, and customer experience
• Define business architecture and capability roadmaps for Store of the Future programs, incorporating AI/ML, IoT, automation, and mobile-first designs
• Evaluate and recommend best-fit store systems including POS, workforce management, task execution, video analytics, inventory tracking, self-checkout, and store operations platforms
• Partner with internal sales, architecture, and capabilities teams to design, prototype, and implement digital store solutions
• Create solution blueprints, functional requirements, and integration frameworks for connecting store systems with ERP, CRM, OMS, ITSM, and analytics platforms
• Guide RFP responses, solution proposals, and pre-sales efforts as the domain expert for store operations and technologies
• Stay abreast of retail trends and innovations with a focus on AI led transformation
• Contribute to the creation of accelerators, reusable assets, and go-to-market content in the retail domain
• Demonstrate thought leadership in Retail via whitepapers, webinars and events.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Minimum 10 years of experience in retail operations or store technology, with at least 3 years in a consulting or IT services role
• Proven experience in defining and delivering digital store solutions for Tier-1/Tier-2 retailers across formats (grocery, apparel, convenience)
• Deep understanding of store systems landscape – POS, WFM, task management, planograms, RFID, mobility, IoT
• Familiarity with industry solutions such as Oracle Xstore, Toshiba, Aptos, SAP CAR, GK POS, Zebra, Honeywell, Reflexis, Scandit, or similar
• Experience in solution design, system integration, and transformation roadmap creation
• Exposure to AI/ML and automation use cases in store operations (e.g., predictive inventory, shelf analytics, loss prevention)
• Strong communication skills and ability to present solutions to business and technology executives
• Experience working in agile delivery environments and across cross-functional global teams
Preferred Certifications:
• Certifications in retail platforms (e.g., Oracle Xstore, Reflexis, SAP Retail) is a plus
• ITIL, TOGAF, Agile, or PMP certifications are a plus
