Senior QA Automation Engineer

About The Opportunity

• Design, build and maintain robust automation frameworks and test suites for web, API and backend services using Selenium/Playwright/Cypress and Java or Python.
• Author and execute API test automation (REST/GraphQL) and validate integrations with embedded systems and cloud services.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins/GitLab CI), enable automated gating, parallel runs and reliable test reporting.
• Lead test strategy for releases—define test coverage, risk-based test plans, and maintain regression and smoke suites to enable fast delivery.
• Mentor and collaborate with developers, DevOps and product teams to embed quality-by-design, triage defects, and reduce flakiness.
• Own test telemetry: build dashboards, track quality metrics, and drive continuous improvement (stability, performance, and observability).
  

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

• 5+ years in QA with at least 3 years focused on automation (Selenium/Playwright/Cypress) and strong coding skills in Java or Python.
• Hands-on experience automating API tests (REST/GraphQL) and working with Postman or similar tools.
• Proven experience integrating tests into CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab CI) with containerised execution (Docker).
• Solid understanding of test frameworks (TestNG, JUnit, pytest) and BDD approaches (Cucumber) and TDD practices.
• Strong debugging skills, familiarity with logging/observability, and competency in SQL/NoSQL for verification.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills in a hybrid environment (India-based).
  

Preferred

• Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, Locust) and mobile/embedded system testing.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP) and monitoring stacks.
• Prior SDET experience in product companies shipping CI-driven releases and mentoring junior QAs.
