Key Responsibilities:

1.Metallurgical Process Development & Control

• Define, validate, and optimize

  forging, heat treatment

  , and

  post-treatment

  parameters for gasket components (stainless steels, duplex/super duplex, Inconel, Monel, carbon steels, etc.).
• Monitor process variables —

  temperature profiles, furnace uniformity, quenching systems, cooling rates

  — ensuring repeatable quality and traceability.
• Evaluate

  microstructures, grain flow, hardness, and mechanical properties

  to ensure process integrity.
• Approve and review

  heat treatment procedures

  and metallurgical

  SOPs

  regularly.
• Ensure compliance with

  API 6A, 17D, ASTM A370, ASTM E10, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156

  , and related process control standards.

2.Metallurgical Evaluation & Quality Assurance

• Supervise metallurgical testing:

  hardness, tensile, impact, metallography, corrosion, and ferrite content evaluation.

• Approve

  Material Test Certificates (MTCs)

  , metallurgical reports, and customer documentation in accordance with

  EN 10204 3.1/3.2

  .
• Conduct

  failure analyses

  for non-conformances and implement permanent corrective actions.
• Support

  customer, third-party, and API/ISO audits

  with technical evidence and process validation.

3.Technical Support & Material Qualification

• Collaborate with

  design, QA/QC, and production teams

  on material selection and treatment feasibility for new gasket designs or client-specific requirements.
• Lead

  material qualification programs

  , ensuring timely approval of new alloys or supplier materials.
• Guide metallurgical laboratory teams in maintaining

  equipment calibration, accuracy, and documentation standards.

4.Continuous Improvement & Innovation

• Analyze metallurgical trends to enhance process stability, yield, and product consistency.
• Introduce and evaluate advanced metallurgical techniques — e.g.,

  controlled atmosphere furnaces, induction hardening, stress-relief optimization.

• Support

  R&D initiatives

  in developing high-temperature and corrosion-resistant materials for

  subsea, offshore, and refinery applications.

5.Leadership & Training

• Mentor junior metallurgists and lab personnel on analytical techniques, metallography, and interpretation of standards.
• Conduct metallurgical awareness and process training for production, QA, and maintenance teams.
• Foster a culture of

  safety, technical discipline, and continuous metallurgical excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education:

  B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech in

  Metallurgical Engineering

  or

  Materials Science

  .

• Experience:

  6–15 years of experience in

  forging, heat treatment, and metallurgical quality control

  , preferably in

  Oil & Gas gasket, valve, flange, or sealing component

  manufacturing.

Technical Expertise

• Deep understanding of

  ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy

  ,

  phase transformations

  , and

  corrosion behavior

  .
• Strong command of

  heat treatment processes

  — solution annealing, quenching, tempering, and stress relieving.
• Proven skills in

  failure analysis, microstructure evaluation

  , and

  root cause problem-solving.

• Proficiency in relevant

  industry standards

  : API 6A,17D, ASME B16.20, ASTM, NACE MR0175/ISO 15156.
• Familiarity with

  Lean Manufacturing

  ,

  Six Sigma

  , or other process improvement methodologies is desirable.
