Job Title: Designer Head

Department: Design & Product Development

Reports To: Managing Director

Location: PS Srijan Corporate Park, Premises No Block GP, Plot – 2, Sector-V, Saltlake, Kolkata - 700091 (Corporate Office)




Position Overview:

The Designer Head will lead the design and product development department, overseeing the creation of innovative, trend-driven, and commercially viable garment collections. The role requires strong leadership, creative vision, and coordination with merchandising, production, and marketing teams to ensure timely development of collections that align with the company’s brand identity and market trends.




Key Responsibilities:

1. Design & Development

  • Lead the end-to-end design process — from concept, research, and mood boards to final samples.
  • Conduct trend forecasting, fabric sourcing, and color palette development for each season.
  • Ensure collections align with brand aesthetics, customer demand, and cost parameters.
  • Approve final samples and designs before production.

2. Team Leadership

  • Supervise, mentor, and guide the design team, CAD designers, and sampling unit.
  • Assign design projects, review outputs, and ensure timely completion.
  • Foster a creative yet process-driven work culture.

3. Market & Trend Analysis

  • Monitor fashion trends, competitor collections, and consumer preferences.
  • Attend fashion fairs, trade shows, and exhibitions for inspiration and networking.

4. Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with the merchandising team for buyer requirements, fabric approvals, and sampling timelines.
  • Work closely with the production team to ensure design feasibility and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with marketing for look books, catalogues, and promotional campaigns.

5. Quality & Cost Control

  • Ensure designs are commercially viable, maintaining a balance between creativity and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee fit sessions and quality checks on proto, pre-production, and bulk samples.



Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong creative and visual sense with excellent fashion forecasting ability.
  • In-depth knowledge of fabrics, trims, silhouettes, and knitting garment construction.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple collections and deadlines simultaneously.



Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Fashion Design or Textile Design (NIFT/NID or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 

    8–12 years

     of experience in garment design, with at least 

    3–5 years in a senior/head role

    .
  • Experience in 

    export houses / domestic brands / large-scale manufacturing

     preferred.
