Senior Engineer – Product Engineering

JOB PURPOSE: As a Senior Electro-Mechanical Engineer in REPS Engineering’s Product Engineering team, this role primarily focuses on driving material cost reduction through various strategies and initiatives deployed across the REPS product platform. The incumbent leverages expertise in both electrical and mechanical systems to lead and deliver complex technical solutions for Material cost reduction, field issues, CPI (Cost/Productivity Improvement) projects, and customer-specific solution requirements. This ensures best-in-class product availability, reliability, and continuous improvement across the REPS portfolio.

Key Areas Of Responsibilities

  • Identify, evaluate & deliver resourcing, VA/VE, design optimization, and other complex projects to achieve departmental material cost reduction targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across functions, product lines, and facilities to ensure timely and effective project completion.
  • Provide technical guidance and closely collaborate with suppliers, testing agencies/labs, and third-party service providers.
  • Manage technical specifications and deviations.
  • Ensure all tasks and goals strike the right balance between design objectives, cost, reliability, performance, timelines, and competing priorities.
  • Communicate technical information effectively to customers, team members, suppliers, and other units.
  • Lead and deliver effective solutions for CPI (Fix-It) projects.
  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities using structured methodologies such as 8D, Fishbone, or DMAIC.
  • Provide technical solutions, evaluate alternatives, and assist in decision-making for both internal and external stakeholders (customers, dealers).
  • Work with diverse cross-functional teams to develop world-class engineering solutions for global products.
  • Manage personal development by continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technological advancements.

Key Skills And Knowledge Requirement

  • Deep understanding and experience with Electric Power (Genset) products and processes across multiple REPS-EPD facilities.
  • Thorough engineering knowledge in one or more of the following subsystems: Structural (base frame, enclosure, fabrications), Thermal (cooling, air, exhaust systems), and Genset system integration.
  • Good working knowledge of Electrical components & harness
  • Ability to handle moderately complex electrical projects with guidance from subject matter experts.
  • Strong understanding of Genset testing and validation, including the ability to define component/sub-system validation requirements.
  • Proficiency in interpreting complex drawings and knowledge of Material spec.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and technical leadership; must be a team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of Creo, Creo Simulate, Teamcenter, DFM / DFA
  • Expertise in DFMEA, PFMEA and Risk Assessment techniques.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree with 8+ years of relevant experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with CAE tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance and certification processes for genset products in global markets.
  • Understanding of the NPI (New Product Introduction) process.
  • Exposure to Six Sigma or Lean methodologies for process and product improvement.
  • Strong project management skills including planning, tracking, and reporting.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing within the team.
  • Knowledge of data analytics tools such as Minitab, Python etc will be advantageous
  • Experience working in a global engineering environment with cross-cultural teams.
