Senior CAD Technician - Highways

WSP Development team specialises in providing both strategic and detailed design advice to predominantly private sector clients on planning and design issues relating to Highways, Public Realm, Signal Design, Sewerage, SUDS, Below Ground Building Drainage, Earthworks, Flood Protection and Utilities Coordination/Diversion across numerous sectors in the UK.

We are seeking to recruit a Senior CAD Coordinator to join the team in Bengaluru and work closely with our UK offices.

Your principal role as a Senior CAD Coordinator will be, working within small teams produce designs and drawings related to roads and highways to support planning applications and construction drawings. You can expect to be active on a number of projects at any given time.

• Leading the CAD team and providing support and mentoring to ensure quality in project deliverables.
• Responsible for supporting retention and succession planning of CAD team.
• Oversee adherence to technical standards and meet quality control and quality assurance requirements in accordance with WSP CAD Standards, specifications and BIM standards.
• Responsible for quality and managing quality issues by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
• The position will involve internal client liaison, assisting in the preparation of fee proposals, winning work to achieve team utilisation and financial control of projects.
• Responsible for ensuring work is delivered to budget, programme and technical standards and meet QA & QC
• Direct line management, including mentoring and managing junior staff ensuring technical excellence is in everything we deliver.

Key Competencies / Skills:

Mandatory

• The ability to produce 2d and 3d models, design and construction drawings in delivering Highway and Drainage schemes.
• Expertise in producing highway infrastructure drawings such as GA, pavement, kerbing, signs & lines, site clearance, cross sections, long sections, drainage layouts, schedules etc.
• Solid knowledge of the relevant standard details in compliance with UK market requirements
• Expertise in the use of AutoCAD, Vehicle tracking, PDS signs, PDS lines.
• Experience and an interest in helping the junior members of the team to improve their efficiency by implementing best practices.
• Skill managing by identifying skills gaps in team and helping team in upskilling by providing on job support and training.
• Problem solving and originality.
• Cultural awareness, conscientious and an open mind are essential requirements for the role.
• High degree of self-motivation and ability to work under pressure.
• Strong communication skills and the desire to be a part of a successful close knit team
