Senior Biomedical Engineer

Meditrina Hospital, Kollam, invites applications from qualified and experienced professionals for the position of Senior Biomedical Engineer. The incumbent will be responsible for the overall management, maintenance, safety, and regulatory compliance of all biomedical equipment in the hospital, ensuring uninterrupted clinical services in line with NABH standards and best engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Management & Maintenance

• Plan, implement, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all biomedical equipment.
• Ensure optimal uptime and safe functioning of critical medical devices across all departments.
• Maintain accurate equipment inventory, service records, calibration logs, and breakdown history.

NABH Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure full compliance with NABH measurable elements related to biomedical equipment management.
• Prepare, update, and maintain SOPs, policies, manuals, and records required for NABH audits.
• Coordinate and support internal audits, external assessments, and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Installation, Commissioning & Validation

• Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation of new medical equipment.
• Ensure acceptance testing, user training, and proper handover documentation.
• Vendor & AMC Management
• Liaise with vendors, service providers, and OEMs for AMC/CMC contracts and warranty management.
• Evaluate vendor performance and ensure timely service delivery.

Safety & Risk Management

• Ensure electrical, mechanical, and radiation safety of medical equipment.
• Participate in risk assessments, incident investigations, and safety committee activities.
• Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Team Leadership & Training

• Lead, guide, and mentor the biomedical engineering team.
• Conduct training and awareness programs for clinical and technical staff on equipment usage and safety.

Budgeting & Planning

• Assist in capital planning, budgeting, and technical evaluation for procurement of medical equipment.
• Provide technical inputs for purchase committees and management decisions.

Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in NABH-accredited multi-super-specialty hospitals, with hands-on exposure to critical care and advanced diagnostic equipment.

• Strong knowledge of hospital biomedical systems and NABH standards
• Excellent documentation and audit management skills

• Effective communication and coordination skills
