A Senior Accountant is a key finance professional responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial decision-making. They supervise accounting staff, maintain compliance with accounting standards, and collaborate closely with management to improve financial processes.

Key Responsibilities1. Financial Reporting

• Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS and internal accounting policies
• Perform variance analysis and provide insights to management

2. General Ledger Management

• Oversee journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and adjustments
• Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and verify financial data
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes

3. Compliance & Audit

• Coordinate internal and external audit activities
• Ensure adherence to statutory regulations and tax requirements
• Implement and monitor internal controls

4. Budgeting & Forecasting

• Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial projections
• Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations

5. Accounts Payable/Receivable Oversight

• Review and approve AP/AR transactions
• Monitor cash flow and support treasury functions

6. Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes
• Implement financial best practices and automation improvements

7. Team Leadership

• Supervise junior accountants and accounting assistants
• Provide training, mentoring, and performance feedback

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS
• Advanced Excel and accounting software skills (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Travelling

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Professional certification such as CPA, CMA, ACCA (highly desirable)
• 4–7+ years of progressive accounting experience
