Role Summary

the scientific officer will be responsible for performing and validating routine and advanced diagnostic tests, ensuring adherence to quality standards, and supporting smooth laboratory operations. the role includes managing equipment, performing qc/qa activities, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with teams to maintain accuracy and efficiency.

key responsibilities

laboratory operations

  • perform routine and specialized diagnostic tests as per sops.
  • validate and verify test results before release.
  • oversee sample processing and ensure accuracy in workflows.
  • operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and analyzers.

quality & compliance

  • ensure adherence to nabl/iso standards and laboratory quality guidelines.
  • conduct daily qc reviews and support proficiency testing (eqas).
  • maintain proper documentation of qc logs, deviations, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • ensure safe laboratory practices and biosafety compliance.

coordination & support

  • support junior scientific staff and technologists in daily lab activities.
  • collaborate with internal teams to ensure tat compliance.
  • participate in root cause analysis of non-conformities and support process improvements.
  • assist in stock management, reagent verification, and inventory planning.

reporting & documentation

  • enter accurate results into lis and review technical data.
  • maintain equipment logs, calibration records, and technical files.
  • prepare reports required for audits, quality checks, and management review.

skills & competencies

  • strong technical understanding of diagnostic laboratory testing
  • hands-on experience with automated analyzers
  • excellent documentation and analytical abilities
  • strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
  • good communication and team coordination skills
  • proficiency in lis and ms office tools

key deliverables

  • accurate and validated test results
  • adherence to tat and quality standards
  • zero major qc deviations or non-conformities
  • audit-ready documentation
  • smooth workflow coordination and technical support

preferred profile

  • 2–5 years of laboratory experience in diagnostics
  • exposure to hematology, biochemistry, microbiology, or molecular workflows
  • experience in nabl-accredited laboratories
