Role Overview:

The Sales Manager will be responsible for leading the sales function in Chennai, driving revenue growth, and developing strategic customer relationships in freight forwarding and logistics. The role requires strong leadership, market knowledge, and the ability to manage a sales team while also bringing in key accounts.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve revenue and growth targets in the Chennai market.
  • Acquire new clients and maintain relationships with existing customers in Air, Sea, and Road freight.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and team goals.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities through networking, referrals, and market intelligence.
  • Negotiate contracts, freight rates, and service agreements in line with company guidelines.
  • Collaborate closely with operations and customer service to ensure customer satisfaction and service quality.
  • Conduct competitor and market analysis to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Monitor sales performance and provide regular reports to senior management.
  • Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions, and industry networking events.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, compliance, and ethical standards.

  • Requirements:

    • 6–10 years of proven experience in sales within the freight forwarding / logistics industry.
    • Minimum 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.
    • Strong network of clients in Chennai and South India (importers/exporters, manufacturers, traders).
    • In-depth knowledge of freight forwarding, Incoterms, international trade regulations, and customs procedures.
    • Demonstrated success in developing new business and retaining key accounts.
    • Strong leadership, team management, and people development skills.
    • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office and CRM tools.
    • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills.


    Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field (MBA preferred).
