Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive EHS strategies and programs to promote a culture of safety and environmental sustainability.
  • Oversee and ensure all safety practices during both the design and construction phases are in full compliance with standards i.e., CEN, as well as the safety requirements outlined in the NHLML tender documents & Adani Safety Requirements in consultation with Adani RMRW Safety Head.
  • Monitor and provide guidance on safety protocols throughout all stages (Design consideration, Construction, Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning) of ropeway construction. This includes, but is not limited to, logistic movement (Fleet/ Journey Management) from port to site, tower foundation works, tower erection, rope stringing, and installation of OEM ropeway equipment of both Material (Cable crane) and Passenger Ropeway and ensure that all safety measures are implemented effectively and consistently across the site.
  • Ensure the implementation of world-class safety standards and practices across all phases of the ropeway project, minimizing risks to personnel, equipment, and the environment.
  • Develop Project specific Safety Plan in alignment with national and international standards (e.g., CEN, IS, OSHA, ISO 45001 etc.) and as well as the safety requirements outlined in the NHLML tender documents & Adani Safety Requirements in consultation with Adani RMRW Safety Head. Prepare & submit Safety Plan, ERP Plan, Traffic management plan to Client.
  • Identify key safety aspects in engineering design and share the input accordingly. Further, verify that construction activities are executed in accordance with the approved design drawings and working methodologies, ensuring align with relevant CEN standards safety codes of Ropeways.
  • Facilitate the Project Team in preparation of comprehensive Risk Assessments for all project construction activities.
  • Identify high-risk activities and propose mitigation strategies including the terrain, weather etc. Recommend solutions to issues, identify improvement opportunities, and suggest new prevention measures.
  • Develop and test emergency response plans for various scenarios (e.g., fire, landslide, equipment failure etc.). and ensure readiness of emergency equipment and personnel.
  • Conducting Job specific & Emergency response Trainings.
  • Ensure timely submission and compliance with all NHLML guidelines and Adani framework.
  • Regular Audit and inspections, addressing findings and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Champions a digital mindset to drive innovation. Keep up with digital and AI advancements to enhance project safety.
  • Define governance framework and adhere to the same.
  • Liaison with safety taskforce to ensure standard for contract safety on timely basis.
  • Lead the implementation of ISO 45001 Management Systems standards.
  • Lead and mentor a team of EHS professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure adherence to best practices.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as a key member of the Safety Council, contributing to all efforts to enhance workplace safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into all aspects of operations and decision-making.
  • Facilitate for Investigate and report on incidents, accidents, and near-misses.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery to identify and mitigate unsafe conditions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external EHS audits, inspections, and inquiries.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management on EHS metrics, compliance status, and improvement opportunities. Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
  • Conduct community safety awareness campaigns for stakeholders.
  • Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks with Adani and contractor safety officers and supervisors.
  • Evaluate the contractors’ Safety performance to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Implementation & ensure the reporting through Digital transformation “SAFEX” apps.

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

  • Graduate engineer with Degree/Diploma in Industrial Safety or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH IGC/ Construction Safety preferred.
  • Minimum 18+ years of experience in safety management in ropeway or high-altitude infrastructure projects and well versed with CEN standards for Ropeway.
  • Familiarity with similar terrain and associated challenges is preferred.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
