About the Role:


Purchase Executive for the R&D segment


Key Roles & Responsibilities


1. Procurement & Sourcing:

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers for R&D-specific components, electronic parts, mechanical items, and prototype materials.
  • Procure low-volume and highly specialized items required for new product development.
  • Compare quotations, negotiate pricing, and ensure cost-effective procurement without compromising quality.

2. Vendor Management:

  • Develop and maintain strong vendor relationships.
  • Evaluate vendor performance based on quality, delivery timelines, technical capability, and service.
  • Coordinate with vendors for urgent R&D requirements, samples, and trial components.

3. Coordination with R&D Team:

  • Understand technical specifications from R&D engineers for prototypes, testing, and new product designs.
  • Ensure timely availability of parts to avoid delays in development cycles.
  • Share procurement lead times and constraints with R&D for project planning.

4. Purchase Order & Documentation:

  • Create purchase orders, maintain PR/PO records, and ensure proper documentation.
  • Track purchase order status, delivery schedules, and follow-ups for timely receipt.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement policies.

5. Inventory & Material Management Support:

  • Coordinate with the stores/warehouse team for material receipts and GRN.
  • Ensure quality check coordination for received R&D materials.
  • Maintain optimal stock levels for frequently used R&D components.

6. Cost Control & Market Research:

  • Conduct periodic market research for new suppliers, emerging technologies, and competitive pricing.
  • Suggest cost-saving alternatives without compromising technical specifications.

7. Compliance & Quality:

  • Ensure all procured materials meet technical and quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation for ISO/audit compliance related to R&D procurement.


Skills Required:

  • Strong knowledge of procurement in the manufacturing or engineering domain.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications (mechanical/electrical/electronics).
  • Good negotiation and vendor-handling skills.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and follow-up abilities.
  • ERP knowledge.
  • Ability to work with fast-moving and changing R&D requirements.
