Vendor Sourcing & Assessment Identify and qualify new vendors for raw materials (steel, alloy, plating chemicals), packaging materials, tooling, and subcontracted processes like heat treatment and surface coating. Conduct supplier assessments focusing on quality systems, production capacity, and cost efficiency. Float inquiries, collect quotations, and perform comparative analysis. 2. Vendor On boarding & Audits Manage vendor registration, documentation, and system entries in ERP. Coordinate with quality team for technical evaluations and trial approvals. Conduct audits to assess compliance with ISO, IATF, or customer-specific requirements. 3. Cost Optimization & Negotiation Negotiate prices and terms to ensure best value procurement aligned with the company’s cost reduction goals. Monitor market trends for raw material prices (steel grades, zinc, etc.) and advise on strategic sourcing decisions. 4. Quality & Delivery Assurance Work closely with QA and Production to resolve supplier quality issues like thread tolerances, plating inconsistencies, or material rejections. Track delivery timelines and follow up with vendors to ensure on-time supply for production continuity. 5. Vendor Performance Monitoring Maintain supplier performance data: quality rejections, lead times, delivery adherence, and responsiveness. Develop monthly vendor scorecards and drive continuous improvement initiatives. 6. Coordination & Reporting Coordinate with design, planning, and stores departments to ensure procurement aligns with production schedules and BOM changes.
