Project Executive
Job Summary
The Project Executive is responsible for the end-to-end management and successful delivery of authors' publishing projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards. This role requires a strong focus on client relationship management, oversight, and actively identifying opportunities to upsell and cross-sell additional Services to clients to maximize project value and business growth.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- End-to-End Project Management & Delivery
- Project Initiation and Planning: Take ownership of client projects from the initial order through to final delivery. Define project scope, create detailed schedules, and secure necessary resources.
- Service Coordination: Oversee the production workflow for a diverse range of publishing services, including:
i. Editorial Services: Editing, proofreading, Blurb Writing, Book Summary, Query Letter, Author Profile, Book Review, and Copyright page content.
ii. Production Services: Typesetting (Paperback and E-book), E-Book Conversion, Cover Design, and Printing.iii. Registration & Distribution: ISBN registration and Database registration.iv. Value-Added Services: Marketing Kit creation and Audiobook creation.
- Process Execution: Execute the typical process for all services, coordinating with internal departments such as Editing (for items like a Press Release) and Graphics Designers (for items like Teaser Images, Promo Videos, and Promo Posts).
- Quality & Risk Control: Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and adhere to client requirements. Proactively identify and mitigate project risks, troubleshooting issues to keep the project on track.
- Reporting: Track project progress, manage timelines, and report on status to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Client Relationship Management & Upselling
- Strategic Upselling: Actively look for and pursue opportunities to move clients into higher-tier service packages (Standard and Premium) or sell individual services that align with their publishing goals.
- Example: Identifying opportunities to upsell a Basic package client to Standard (adding Blurb Writing and ISBN registration) or to Premium (adding a Marketing Kit, Printing, and Audiobook).
- Consultative Sales: Serve as the client's primary point of contact, understanding their needs, intended audience, and platform strategy (e.g., for Promo Posts and Videos) to provide customized service recommendations.
- Client Communication: Maintain clear and consistent communication with authors, providing updates, managing expectations, and gathering information required to complete orders (e.g., video resolution, teaser dimensions, etc.).
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Publishing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a Project Management role, preferably within the publishing, pre-press, or content services industry.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a pipeline of projects and deliver them successfully (end-to-end).
- Strong business acumen and a proven track record of successful upselling or cross-selling services to clients.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with project management software and tools.
- A solid understanding of the book publishing process is highly desirable.
