Job Summary:

Project Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

Site/Project Supervision:

• Oversee on-site construction, renovation, and maintenance activities.
• Monitor work to ensure compliance with design, specifications, safety standards, and local regulations.

Project Execution:

• Coordinate with architects, consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless execution of projects.
• Assist in interpreting drawings, plans, and specifications on-site.
• Maintain quality control procedures and ensure proper use of materials.

Progress Monitoring:

• Track progress of construction and maintenance projects against schedules.
• Maintain daily site records, including work progress, manpower, equipment usage, and incidents.

Health and Safety:

• Ensure the safety of all site personnel by enforcing safety guidelines and conducting regular inspections.
• Report and manage incidents and implement corrective measures as needed.

Communication & Coordination:

• Liaise with university departments (engineering, procurement, administration) regarding project needs and progress.
• Conduct site meetings with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

Resource Management:

• Monitor inventory of site materials and request procurement of additional supplies as needed.
• Ensure optimal usage of manpower and equipment.

Documentation:

• Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, photos, inspection records, and as-built drawings.
• Support preparation of reports for management and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.

• Experience:

  9+ years of site/project experience in construction or infrastructure projects; prior experience in institutional or campus environments preferred.

Skills:

• Strong technical knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations.
• Proficiency in project management tools and AutoCAD.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

Desirable:

• Experience working on large-scale campus infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with green building practices and sustainable construction.
• Knowledge of university operations or educational infrastructure standards.

Working Conditions:

• Full-time, on-site position.
• May involve extended hours during peak project phases.
• Must be willing to work outdoors and at active construction sites.
