Job Description

Role Overview

The Program Manager / Head of Developmental Sports will be responsible for overseeing and strengthening JSW’s developmental sports programs across plant locations and rural centres. This role focuses on ensuring operational excellence, establishing robust training systems, and enabling athlete progression across disciplines. The ideal candidate will bring strong program management skills, a deep understanding of grassroots sports development, and the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.


Key Responsibilities

1. Oversight of Developmental Academies

  • Monitor day-to-day functioning of the Community Sports Program and academies at plant locations and rural centres.
  • Ensure smooth operations, timely reporting, and adherence to program standards across all sites.

2. Strengthening Training & Coaching Quality

  • Develop and implement systems to ensure athletes receive high-quality coaching and structured training programs.
  • Set clear performance expectations and evaluation processes for coaches and support staff.

3. Systems & Process Development

  • Build robust operational processes, SOPs, and frameworks to streamline functioning.
  • Ensure consistency, safety, and adherence to best practices across all academies and programs.

4. Talent Pathway Development

  • Create and manage pathways for cross-discipline talent identification.
  • Establish criteria and processes to identify athletes with potential to advance and transition into professional or elite training setups.

5. Program & Operational Management

  • Drive efficient execution of all programs, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and ongoing program improvements.

6. Budgeting & Financial Oversight

  • Monitor, track, and manage program budgets.
  • Ensure financial discipline and cost-effective utilisation of resources.

7. Stakeholder Management

  • Liaise with internal departments including HR, finance, high-performance teams, and senior leadership.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders such as government bodies, sports federations, community partners, and vendors.
  • Represent IIS/JSW Sports professionally in external engagements.


Qualifications & Experience

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in sports development, academy management, or grassroots program leadership.
  • Strong understanding of athlete development pathways and coaching structures.
  • Experience working with government agencies, sports federations, and rural development programs is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
