Production Engineer

Job Description

Job Title: Production engineer Department: Manufacturing/Production. Job Description Oversee daily operations of the machine tool room, ensuring smooth workflow and adherence to production schedules. Expertise in operating and Managing CNC machines (milling, turning, grinding, EDM), conventional machines, and tooling equipment. Ensure proper maintenance, calibration, and servicing of all machinery to minimize downtime. Supervise machining of high-precision components for drone assemblies (e.g., motor mounts, structural frames, landing gear). Validate component dimensions and geometries against engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with GD&T, surface finish requirements, and critical assembly fits for drone systems. Troubleshoot machining defects and optimize processes for efficiency. Design and oversee the fabrication of custom jigs, fixtures, and tooling for drone part manufacturing. Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to develop prototypes and refine production process. Lead a team of machinists, CNC operators, and technicians, ensuring skill development and adherence to safety protocols. Manage tool inventory, cutting tools, and raw materials to ensure optimal stock levels. Ensure compliance with aerospace/drone industry regulations (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001). Required Skills and Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Certifications in CNC programming, tool & die making, or precision machining are a plus. Experience: 3+ years of experience managing a machine tool room in aerospace, drone manufacturing, or precision engineering . Proficiency in CNC programming (G-code, CAD/CAM software – Mastercam, NX Cam) . Hands-on expertise with lathes, milling machines, grinders, and EDM . Knowledge of composite machining (for drone components) is advantageous. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of metrology tools (CMM, micrometers, profilometers) . Familiarity with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen for process improvement. Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T standards . Soft Skills: Leadership and team management abilities. Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. Excellent communication for cross-functional collaboration. Preferred Domain Knowledge Experience in unmanned aerial systems (UAS)/drone component manufacturing . Knowledge of lightweight materials (aluminum alloys, titanium, carbon fiber composites).
