Working closely with cross-functional teams, this position ensures that process designs/improvement are innovative, cost-effective, and optimized for manufacturability.
Specific Responsibilities: -
- Work very closely with Production, Quality & maintenance and design and develop
- Product Jigs and Fixtures
- Product stack up analysis
- Work closely with operations team for design and Implement process improvement projects to improve.
- Plant productivity
- Optimize manpower
- Product & Process Quality Consistency
- Layout updates and optimize ASAP
- Continuously monitor the process across all production processes to identify improvement opportunities for defect reduction / productivity improvement.
- Conduct process capability studies, identify and implement corrective actions to improve process capability.
- Ensure Seamless transition of Improvement project designs into production, minimize disruption & downtime.
- Active participation in Lean Journey programs (5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, SMED, PDCA, Andon, Takt Time, Line balancing, VSM).
- Active participation in VAVE Projects.
- Work for process safety enhancement by identifying safety risks.
- Review the FMEA and control plan at determined frequency and modify / upgrade with necessary actions for all existing processes.
General Responsibilities:-
- Conceptualization and Design
- Identify opportunities for process & product quality and implement the same.
- Analyse rejection, defects, customer complaints – develop countermeasures and implement them with the help of concerned department.
- Set the process parameters for all the processes, document, and handover to manufacturing.
- Train production and quality personnel on the new process.
- Carry out mass production of initial batches / production run to establish the process, production rate and defect rate.
- Handover to production along with complete documentation.
- Use CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings of product components and assemblies.
- Evaluate feasibility studies and design reviews to assess the viability and manufacturability of proposed designs with evaluating material selection, tolerances, and manufacturing processes to ensure design integrity and compatibility with production requirements.
- Prototyping & Testing
- Coordinate prototype fabrication & testing activities to validate design concepts with identified vendors with the help of SCM production team.
- Conduct validation tests as per functional requirements
- Analyze test data, identify areas for improvement & implement design modifications as needed to meet functional requirements with quality standards.
- Document & Technical Communication:
- Document FMEA, Control plan, SOPs, check lists, formats, process capability studies, etc. for mass production purpose.
- Collaborate with Production Engineers to develop WI’s Process documentation, QC procedures & operators training for production.
Skills Required
The candidate must have
- Hands on Experience in Process Engineering in the field of Manufacturing with design & Implement skills of Jigs , Fixtures
- Hands-on Experience in SPC, PFMEA, RCA, TACT TIME, Line balancing, process improvement projects.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet target timelines in a fast-paced environment
- GD & T Knowledge
- AutoCAD and Solid Works working
- Good communication & presentation skills
