Platform Lead

About the Role

We are looking for a Platform Lead with 8+ years of deep hands-on experience in AWS, Cloud, and Platform Engineering to lead and own mission-critical financial platforms within a high-pressure investment banking environment.

This role goes beyond execution. You will lead platform strategy, reliability, and automation, while still staying close to the systems. You’ll guide engineers, define best practices, and ensure platforms are secure, resilient, and scalable across on-premise and AWS hybrid environments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who thinks like an owner, drives operational excellence, mentors teams, and ensures systems remain stable even under peak financial workloads.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Ownership & Reliability:

• Own end-to-end platform stability, availability, and performance for critical financial systems.
• Lead incident response, major outages, and post-incident reviews.
• Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure permanent fixes for recurring issues.
• Set reliability standards and SLAs across platforms.

Operational Leadership:

• Define and oversee Disaster Recovery (DR) strategies and conduct regular DR drills.
• Ensure patching, upgrades, security hardening, and compliance across environments.
• Establish and maintain robust backup and restore strategies.
• Lead monitoring, logging, and alerting practices for proactive issue detection.

SRE, Automation & Engineering Excellence:

• Champion Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices across the platform team.
• Drive automation-first culture for deployments, operations, failover, and scaling.
• Architect and review automation built using Python, Shell, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Enable self-healing systems and create structured runbooks and SOPs.

Cloud & Hybrid Architecture:

• Lead platform architecture across AWS and on-prem hybrid environments.
• Oversee and optimize usage of AWS services such as EC2, ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, VPC, and CloudWatch.
• Partner with cloud, infrastructure, and security teams to improve performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Guide platform modernization and cloud optimization initiatives.

Team & Stakeholder Leadership:

• Mentor and guide platform engineers; conduct technical reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate closely with application, security, and business stakeholders.
• Act as the technical escalation point for complex platform challenges.

Required Skills & Experience-

Technical & Leadership Experience:

• 8+ years in Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or similar roles (financial services preferred).
• Strong leadership experience with hands-on technical ownership.
• Deep expertise in AWS and hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Strong Linux/Windows systems engineering background.
• Advanced automation and scripting skills (Python, Shell, Ansible).
• Strong Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform.

Observability & Operations:

• Expertise in monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, VPC design, and security best practices.
• Proven experience handling DR, patching, upgrades, backups, and compliance.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, middleware, databases, and integrations.
• Familiarity with ITIL processes including incident, problem, and change management.

Preferred Skills

• Exposure to financial or trading platforms such as Front Arena, Calypso, or Murex.
• Experience leading highly available, performance-critical platforms.
• Background in automation-driven operations and platform scalability.
