Job Title: Electrical Engineer – Pipeline Projects (Commissioning & Design)
Department: Engineering / Projects
Job Purpose: To lead the electrical engineering aspects of cross-country pipeline projects, including design validation, procurement support, installation supervision, commissioning, and integration of electrical systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of pipeline infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning Planning:
Develop detailed commissioning plans and procedures for electrical systems related to cross-country pipelines.
Design Review & Validation:
Review and validate electrical designs to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and industry codes.
Equipment Procurement Support:
Assist in the technical evaluation and procurement process of electrical equipment including Transformers, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, SCADA, and CP (Cathodic Protection) systems.
Installation Oversight:
Oversee the design and installation of electrical systems for PD (Positive Displacement) pumps and other pipeline pumping station infrastructure.
Automation & Control:
Program PLCs to automate pump operations, incorporating safety interlocks and operational logic.
Integrate SCADA systems and sensors (pressure, flow, density, etc.) for real-time monitoring and operational control of pipeline systems.
Protection Systems:
Design and implement effective grounding systems and lightning protection for pumping stations, CP stations, and associated infrastructure.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical issues that arise during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all electrical installations meet safety regulations, operational requirements, and quality standards.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Certification in PLC programming, SCADA systems, or industrial automation (preferred).
Experience:5 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering roles related to pipeline projects, oil & gas, or heavy industrial infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with pump stations, electrical equipment commissioning, and industrial automation.
Skills & Competencies:
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of electrical systems in pipeline infrastructure including transformers, MCCs, VFDs, and CP systems.
Proficiency in PLC programming and SCADA integration.
Knowledge of instrumentation for pressure, flow, and density monitoring.
Expertise in grounding systems, lightning protection, and electrical safety standards.
Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NEC, and other relevant electrical codes and standards.
