Role Overview

Syaala Infra is establishing a Phase-1 manufacturing unit in Hyderabad to produce 20 ft and 40 ft modular data center pods for export to the United States. The Operations Manager will lead all factory operations, supervise technicians, drive daily production execution, and ensure world-class quality and workflow discipline.

This role is responsible for the complete assembly lifecycle—from container modification, electrical integration, and cooling installation to QA, packaging, and FE readiness. The Operations Manager is the core execution leader ensuring that every pod is delivered on time and built to U.S. standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Factory Setup and Operational Management

  • Lead the setup of a 15,000–20,000 sq ft modular data center manufacturing facility.
  • Define and maintain workflow zones for electrical, cooling, mechanical, assembly, and QA areas.
  • Ensure factory organization, cleanliness, safety, and readiness for customer and investor visits.

2. Production Planning and Execution

  • Plan and execute the production cycle for 1–2 pods per month.
  • Translate the engineering BOM into actionable work packages for technicians.
  • Maintain production schedules, daily task assignments, and progress tracking.
  • Identify bottlenecks early and resolve them to protect delivery timelines.

3. Technical Oversight (Electrical, Cooling, Mechanical)

  • Supervise installation and integration of UPS systems, battery banks, transformers, power panels, PDUs, and grounding networks.
  • Oversee cooling installation including DX in-row units, refrigerant piping, brazing, nitrogen testing, and condenser integration.
  • Direct mechanical tasks such as insulation, paneling, raised flooring, tray installation, and containment fit-out.

4. Quality Control and FAT

  • Conduct Factory Acceptance Testing including:
  • Insulation resistance tests
  • Continuity checks
  • Load bank testing (10–20 kW)
  • Cooling performance validation
  • Fire system continuity checks
  • Ensure all pods meet FE readiness requirements before shipment.
  • Maintain detailed QA documentation and sign-off.

5. Team Leadership and Workforce Management

  • Supervise a team of 5–7 technicians (electrical, cooling, fabrication).
  • Provide training, enforce safety practices, and maintain high workplace discipline.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources, tools, and labor.

6. Vendor and Supply Chain Coordination

  • Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager to track incoming materials, OEM deliveries, and critical-path items.
  • Verify received materials (UPS, transformers, cooling systems, panels) and ensure correct installation.
  • Coordinate with external vendors for service support when required.

7. Compliance, Safety, and Documentation

  • Ensure NEC-style wiring layout, labeling, conduit routing, and grounding.
  • Enforce safety protocols including electrical safety, refrigerant handling, and PPE standards.
  • Maintain checklists, production reports, and work logs for internal audit and FE documentation.

8. Export and Shipment Preparation

  • Oversee final pod preparation including sealing, finishing, labeling, and crate/transport readiness.
  • Coordinate loading, packing, and container dispatch with the Admin/Export Coordinator.

Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.

Professional Experience

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in:
  • Industrial electrical installation
  • HVAC or cooling installation (DX, in-row, CRAC/CRAH)
  • Data center or telecom shelter assembly
  • Electrical contracting or EPC projects
  • Containerized or modular infrastructure manufacturing

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of:
  • UPS installation
  • Transformer and panel integration
  • High-current wiring and cable management
  • Cooling system installation and testing
  • Mechanical assembly and container modifications
  • Ability to read and interpret SLDs, wiring diagrams, cooling schematics, and mechanical layouts.

Soft Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational discipline and task prioritization.
  • Effective communication with technicians, engineers, and vendors.
  • High ownership, problem-solving capacity, and ability to operate in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Reliability and consistency in execution.

Why This Role Is Critical

The Operations Manager ensures that the factory operates with speed, quality, and predictability. This role directly impacts production timelines, pod quality, FE success, cost control, and customer satisfaction. It is the central operational leadership position for Phase-1 manufacturing and will scale into a broader operations leadership role as the company grows.
