The

Nursery Manager

will be responsible for the overall daily operation, management, and strategic development of the nursery. This includes overseeing staff, managing admissions, ensuring curriculum delivery, maintaining a safe and engaging environment, and fostering strong relationships with children, parents, and staff. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive experience in early childhood education, and a deep understanding of child development and relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the nursery, ensuring smooth functioning across all departments (e.g., classrooms, administration, facilities).
    • Manage and allocate resources effectively, including staffing, materials, and facilities.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, licensing requirements, and safety standards (e.g., local child protection laws, health and safety guidelines).
    • Develop and implement nursery policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Staff Leadership Development:
    • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor nursery staff (teachers, assistants, support staff).
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify professional development needs.
    • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
    • Manage staff rosters, leave, and attendance effectively.
  • Curriculum Educational Oversight:
    • Ensure the effective planning, implementation, and assessment of an age-appropriate curriculum (e.g., play-based learning, Montessori, Reggio Emilia).
    • Monitor and evaluate teaching practices to ensure high-quality educational delivery.
    • Stay updated with best practices in early childhood education and integrate them into the nursery's program.
  • Child Welfare Safety:
    • Ensure the well-being, safety, and healthy development of all children in the nursery.
    • Implement and regularly review child protection policies and procedures.
    • Handle emergencies, accidents, or challenging situations involving children or staff effectively.
  • Parent Communication Engagement:
    • Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with parents/guardians, acting as the primary point of contact for significant matters.
    • Conduct parent orientation programs, parent-teacher meetings, and provide regular updates on children's progress.
    • Address parent concerns, feedback, and complaints empathetically and professionally.
  • Admissions Enrollment:
    • Manage the admissions process, including inquiries, tours, registrations, and onboarding of new children.
    • Develop strategies to maintain optimal enrollment numbers.
  • Budget Finance (if applicable):
    • Manage the nursery budget, monitor expenses, and ensure financial viability (if a standalone role).
    • Oversee fee collection and financial record-keeping.
