Join our automation-first Internet Engineering team and help build the backbone of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). You will support the design, deployment, and operations of a large-scale, resilient, and high-performance global network, powering millions of servers across hundreds of data centers.
This role blends deep protocol-level networking expertise with strong software and automation skills to operate at hyperscale. You will work on everything from BGP-based Internet edge routing and backbone transport to global traffic engineering systems — ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of OCI’s worldwide network fabric.
What You’ll Do
- Design and deploy global Internet edge and backbone infrastructure at scale.
- Build and support the network fabric and systems that interconnect OCI’s regions.
- Develop automation and observability tools to simplify large-scale network operations.
- Operate and troubleshoot complex routing environments (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, Segment Routing).
- Partner with software, security, operations and product teams to deliver new capabilities.
- Drive root cause analysis and post-incident improvements for global network events.
- Contribute to long-term architecture for a self-healing, autonomous network.
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience technically leading complex network designs and operating large-scale networks.
- Strong expertise in networking protocols (BGP, IS-IS, OSPF, MPLS, Segment Routing).
- Hands-on experience with large-scale network platforms (IOS-XR, JunOS, NX-OS, PTX/ASR series) and white box routing solutions (SONiC, FBOSS, or similar).
- Programming/scripting experience (Python, Go, or similar) for automation.
- Experience with optical networking (DWDM/CWDM) and distributed architectures is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving skills and operational rigor.
- A passion for building and scaling Internet infrastructure.
- Lead network lifecycle management programs by defining high-level objectives, delivery procedures, and success metrics.
- Organize project technical milestones and supporting tasks, and serve as the technical lead coordinating the efforts of multiple engineers.
- Collaborate closely with project/program managers and leadership (immediate and skip-level) to align priorities and delivery timelines.
- Act as a technical SME in cross-functional initiatives, collaborating across teams within the same org (VP scope).
- Translate high-level architectures into detailed designs, requirements, specifications, and documentation for moderately complex projects.
- Lead the design and delivery of network solutions composed of multiple interdependent modules, ensuring seamless integration and operational readiness.
- Work with supporting service teams to embed solutions into monitoring, observability, and automation systems.
- Serve as Tier-2 or specialized escalation point for large-scale network events, driving rapid break-fix support and systematic resolution.
- Act as SME for root cause analysis (RCA), driving post-incident reviews and reliability improvements.
- Develop scripts and tools to automate complex or non-traditional operational tasks for the business unit.
- Serve as technical lead on network automation design and delivery projects, with a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, providing targeted development guidance, technical coaching sessions, and skills-building opportunities.
- Collaborate with vendors (engineering and account teams) to resolve operational issues, participate in RFQ/RFP processes, and lead evaluation/adoption of new vendor hardware.
- Engage with product teams, networking leadership, and PMO to assess technology gaps, shape solutions, and ensure network platforms meet product and service requirements.
