This role involves managing occupational health, responding to medical emergencies, and promoting employee well-being within a manufacturing environment.

Job Purpose

To provide effective occupational health and medical services at the Dapodi site, ensuring employee health and wellbeing, statutory compliance, and alignment with company EHS standards.

Main Responsibilities

Occupational Health & Medical Services
  • Provide primary medical care, diagnosis, and treatment for employees for both work-related and general health issues.
  • Plan and conduct statutory medical examinations for employees involved in hazardous processes and dangerous operations.
  • Provide on-site medical care and extended first aid support.
  • Manage and respond to medical emergencies, including first aid, stabilization, and coordination of external medical services when necessary.
  • Coordinate with empanelled hospitals for referrals and emergency cases.
  • Analyse clinical and occupational health data to support health surveillance and preventive health initiatives.
  • Deliver services with a strong customer orientation in line with agreed service levels.
EHS & Statutory Compliance
  • Monitor and manage occupational health requirements as per applicable legislation.
  • Ensure calibration and upkeep of medical equipment at the site.
  • Align Occupational Health Centre (OHC) activities with company EHS policies and standards.
  • Support implementation of “The Sandvik Way” within the area of responsibility.
  • Advise management on occupational health and safety matters, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementation of preventative measures.
OHC Operations & Management
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Occupational Health Centre at the Dapodi site.
  • Supervise nursing staff and ensure accurate medical record maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for all employees.
  • Conduct periodic health check-ups and health & wellbeing awareness programs for employees.
  • Ensure compliance related to first-aid facilities, pre-employment medical examinations, and other statutory requirements
  • Manage biomedical waste management in compliance with MPCB and other statutory norms.
  • Ensure adherence to all OHC-related legal and internal compliance requirements as per the company compliance system.

Required Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and practices.
  • Strong understanding of occupational health regulations and statutory compliance.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and treating common medical conditions and handling medical emergencies
  • Ability to plan, implement, and manage health awareness programs and training initiatives.
  • Experience in accident reporting and supporting investigations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of medical information.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

Experience

7 to 10 years of relevant experience in occupational health / industrial medical services in a manufacturing environment.

EDUCATION

MBBS with valid MMC Registration and Associate Fellow of Industrial Health (AFIH)
