About Godrej Aerospace

With a vision to strengthen India’s indigenous space program, Godrej & Boyce began the Aerospace business in 1985. Godrej Aerospace started with developing high precision spacecraft components made of exotic alloys for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Since then, the business has been a part of every other Indian space mission. Today, Godrej Aerospace is an integral part of Indian rockets and spacecrafts, including those of the Mangalyaan and Chandrayaan missions.

Godrej Aerospace is also a manufacturer of precision and hi-tech aerospace components, assemblies, and systems, executing global aerospace projects as well as partnering with global majors like Honeywell, GE, Rolls-Royce, and Boeing for the manufacture of precision components. The business has executed numerous aerospace projects involving precision machining, precision fabrication, welding and brazing, heat treatment, surface treatment, assembly testing and supply of complex and airworthy systems and has garnered expertise in the successful development of liquid propulsion engines, defence systems, satellite components and assemblies, and dish antennas with feed systems.

  1. Tool Design & Development:

  • Design & development of

    Press Tools, machining fixtures, jigs, welding fixtures, testing fixtures

    for Aerospace components (complex sheet metal parts & machined parts) manufacturing
  • Design & development & trials of

    heat treatment

    & surface treatment

    operations to cater to complex aerospace assembly requirements.
  • Drafting of Tools & fixtures.
  • Follow up with suppliers for Tools/ Fixtures manufacturing & ensure ON-TIME availability.
  • T

    ool try-out and validation

    after manufacturing, followed by effective maintenance and revalidation as per Aerospace standard.
  • Maintain all Tool data, Tool history card of all Tools & Fixtures as per Aerospace standard.
  • Analysis of Tool dimension report & decision making for acceptance or rework of Tool/ Fixture.

    ow-cost automation solutions

    for aerospace manufacturing.
  • Drive

    process optimization

    to achieve excellence in

    Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD)

  • Support

    new capability building

    for upcoming manufacturing projects in aerospace alloys (Aluminium, Stainless Steel, Titanium, Inconel, etc.).
  • Contribute to BU’s long-term strategic projects (e.g., WPSM) and participate in part pricing for new product development (NPD) projects in alignment with customer expectations.


2. Customer centricity:

  • Ensure

    delightful customer experience

    by delivering tool design that meet or exceed specifications, faster than committed timelines.
  • Interaction with customers during the development process to ensure alignment with

    technical requirements and quality standards

  • Provide

    engineering support

    for customer projects, ensuring tools and fixtures enable defect-free manufacturing.


3. Process Innovation & Execution:

  • Drive

    continuous improvement

    in tool design through innovative use of

    low-cost automation

    and new technologies.
  • Work across all sheet metal fabrication, machining processes (turning, milling, grinding, drilling, EDM) and welding processes (TIG) to design

    optimal tooling solutions

    .
  • Integrate

    special surface treatment and heat treatment requirements

    into fixture designs.
  • Implement and maintain compliance with

    AS9100 Aerospace Standards

    ,

    ISO 9000 Quality Systems

    , and

    OHSAS 18001 Safety Standards

    .
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between design, manufacturing, and special process teams to ensure flawless execution.
  • Build and maintain a

    design data bank

    with parameters, characteristics, and properties for guarded technologies to aid future projects.


4. Sustainable Business Growth & People Development:

  • Identify, develop, and retain talent in the Tool Design function through structured training and mentoring.
  • Foster a culture of

    safety, compliance, and quality awareness

    in all tool design activities.
  • Lead capability development for new manufacturing technologies in aerospace tooling.
  • Contribute to company-wide initiatives such as

    digitization, integrated offerings, and good & green projects

    .
  • Participate in

    task forces, interview panels, and industry forums

    to strengthen organizational reputation.
  • Support CSR-linked engineering projects where tooling expertise can create social or environmental impact.

  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety, good housekeeping, and adherence to operational standards.
  • Ensure adherence to systems and documentation as per AS9100, EMS, OHSAS & ISMS, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Valuing the information received & effort spent in creating every piece of information. Ensuring the right information is accessed by right individuals. Ensuring Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability of information.
  • Responsible to control usage of energy sources for Environmental protection and Energy Security for sustainable growth.


Qualifications Required:

Essential: Diploma or Degree in Mechanical/ Production Engineering

Preferred: Additional qualification of Indo-German Tool Design/ NDTF

Functional/Technical Competencies Required:

  1. Knowledge of Aerospace components manufacturing processes.
  2. Thorough knowledge of GD&T.
  3. Thorough knowledge of working on AutoCAD, Creo and CATIA.
  4. Knowledge of Tool simulation software like ANSYS/ PAMSTAMP/ AUTOFORM.
  5. Surfacing knowledge of Press Tool design.


Work Experience Required:

Minimum 10 years of work experience for Degree in Engineering and 12 years of work experience for Diploma in Engineering.
