Manager Operations
Business: Corp & Inst Banking
Principal Responsibilities
- Ensure all data requirements (timesheets, leave requests, absence requests and ad hoc process information) is completed and updated in a timely manner
- Effective management of an extensive network of stake holders within GLCM and other global functions; to ensure accelerated delivery
- Operational processes to be set up in line with Group Compliance policy and local regulatory obligations
- Ensure that all new initiatives are compliant with Payments control framework
- Close co-ordination and assessment of Ops Readiness Activities on an ongoing basis
- By taking prompt action to address any weaknesses revealed by Compliance monitoring, audits and regulatory examinations
- Critical Path and Management of Interdependencies
- Conflict Management and issues resolution in times of escalation
- Provide dedicated and centralized resourcing guidance new migration deployments
- Maintain and observe all HSBC control standards and implement and observe the Group Compliance Policy, including the timely implementation of recommendations made by internal/external auditors and external regulators
- Implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Group Compliance Officer, Area
- Compliance Officer and Local Compliance Officers, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training
- Foster a compliance culture. The term ‘compliance’ embraces all relevant laws, rules and codes with which the business has to comply Continually re-assess the operational risks inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings and the impact of new technology
- Contribute to the overall corporate governance structure in payments, including policy and decision-making, as a member of various Committees
- Proactively develop and execute risk mitigation measures to protect the Bank and its customers from all regulatory, compliance and service issues
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience in people management. E
- People management experience – Leading, motivating and developing large teams with diversified responsibilities for min. of 2 years. E
- Excellent written and oral communication. E
- Strong leadership skills evidenced by achievement of objectives, and a track record of development of subordinates
- Strong planning, delegation, organizational skills, and the abilities to handle capacities and managing resources
- High commitment to quality service and customer satisfaction
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with business units
- Excellent decision-making and analytical skills
- Problem-solving capability on operational and HR matters
- Production management skills including MI reporting / interpretation for improvements
- Ability to understand and implement the Group’s risk management policy
- Managing the performance system including identifying development, training and motivational needs of staff
- Strong time management skills and ability to work with challenging deadlines
- Flexibility to work in core night shift
- Self-driven with the ability to work under pressure
What additional skills will be good to have?
- Previous experience in a Payments process (E)
- Knowledge of Payment workflow and proficiency in GPI/GPS/HUB (E)
