Through innovation, development and continuous improvement Vestas R&D develops the products and technologies that reduce the cost of energy and bring the highest possible value to our customers and to Vestas. To put it short: Vestas R&D develops the sustainable power systems of the future. Within Vestas R&D, the department Converter & Electrical Module is responsible for technology and product development of the wind turbine's frequency converters, their control, and high-voltage transformers, switchgear and cables, and busbars. The department is composed of several submodules, of which one specifically covers quality.

The Converter & Electrical Module works with suppliers and internal stakeholders—turbine integration, procurement, assembly, and service—to provide top-quality solutions from our teams' locations in Denmark, Portugal, and India. As Converter & Electrical Lifecycle Management Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring continuous cost efficiency improvements on the module products, operational readiness, design maintenance, and product customization. You will report to the module owner of the converter & electrical module and be part of the module management team.

Responsibilities

  • Set the direction within LCM and ensure the LCM submodule and the entire Module are aligned and lined up behind that direction to produce results reliably through the team
  • Facilitate development of the Cost Out roadmap, including pipeline idea generation, maturation and completion
  • Ensure Operational Readiness (OR) of new products through early engagement and intensive support by providing fast mitigation and resolution to operational issues during transport, construction, commissioning and service of new turbines
  • Facilitate effective and prompt Design Maintenance management throughout the Module, including upgrades, obsolescence, retrofits, and sunsetting
  • Manage handling of feasibility studies and implementation of customization of the Module's existing products
  • Effective people performance and development dialogue (incl. one-to-one, target setting, development plans)
  • Managing resource planning and delegation of work and budget controlling
  • Engaged talent management and development strategies
  • Coaching employees in execution of daily tasks
  • Managing value chain stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Electrical/Automation or similar specialization
  • Effective People management performance in a large cross-cultural organization
  • Experience from working as a design engineer (or application engineer) within the electrical domain
  • Experience with the areas of technical cost-out, design maintenance and product customization
  • Experience in managing in a matrix organization and across cultures

  • Solid leadership and communication skills and capable of acting as a motivator
