Basic Function –

  • Process entails review of local GAAP adjustment journals for APAC, EMEA and LATHAM countries for an insurance client.
  • Manage the period – end close cycle – Month-end/Quarter-end/Annual for local books of various countries
  • Expert knowledge on consolidation cycle and ability to review consolidation financials and provide commentary for Group consolidation
  • Reconcile the general ledger accounts, calculating appropriate adjustments and provisions and booking them to the ledger upon approval, performing intercompany netting, and preparing relevant financial reports (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow) for leadership review.
  • Sound understanding of Insurance operation and accounting of Premium and Losses, Topside Premium, and losses Adj etc.
  • Sound knowledge of Bordereau processing & Claims management (Written premium, Paid claims and reserves) managing cash from MGA, Commission to Agency, Cash to Insurer, Claims Vitesse - Fund movement.


Essential Functions

  • Require expert knowledge and ability to manage month close accounting journals, review reconciliations and financial statements and related reports, investigate problems and organize projects
  • Insurance accounting experience is mandatory.
  • Ability to deliver value working on various activities in statutory/Gaap accounting close cycle and deliver results accordingly.


Primary Internal Interactions

  • With team for the purpose of reporting performance, escalation handling, clarifying concerns, and seeking feedback and support
  • Lead manager for the purpose of settling issues left unresolved by the Assistant Manager and monthly evaluation of performance
  • Peers (team members) for the purpose of seeking co-operation & clarification on process-related matters & helping and support when required


Primary External Interactions

  • Onshore Team Manager and SMEs for daily planning of work and execution of deliverables
  • Must demonstrate effective and diplomatic oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills

Technical Skills


  • Chartered Accountant, CPA, CFA or equivalent with 6 - 9 years’ experience in US GAAP / IFRS accounting experience or
  • B. Com with strong practical experience in accounting and reporting for more than 10-12 years

Process Specific Skills

  • Should have expert level understanding of GAAP accounting principles and procedures.
  • Requires the knowledge and ability to review Journals, reconciliations provide solutions to technical accounting issues and organize projects
  • Insurance accounting regulatory reporting experience or US GAAP/IFRS knowledge mandatory.
  • Manage cash from MGA, expenses, commission, Cash to Insurer.
  • Strong knowledge of Group Consolidation accounting and financials
  • Ability to understand the significance of various activities in a statutory/GAAP accounting close cycle and deliver results accordingly.

Education Requirements

Work Experience Requirements
  • 6 - 9 years of experience in technical accounting or reporting area preferably with an insurance company.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in the field of Insurance/Reinsurance accounting for Manager
  • Should have good understanding of GAAP accounting principles and procedures.
