Job Description

Role OverviewThe Legal Advisor will provide comprehensive legal support to the company, ensuring compliance with local and international laws governing manufacturing, import/export, retail, e-commerce, intellectual property, employment, and commercial contracts. The role involves managing legal risks, advising management, handling disputes, and drafting/negotiating agreements relevant to a rugs and home furnishing business. Key Responsibilities1. Contract Drafting & ReviewDraft, review, and negotiate a wide range of agreements including: – Supplier & vendor contracts – Distributor and reseller agreements – Manufacturing and subcontracting contracts – Import/export & logistics contracts – Retail agreements (online and offline) – Service-level agreements (SLA) Ensure contracts protect the company’s commercial, financial, and intellectual property interests. 2. Compliance & Regulatory ManagementEnsure compliance with local, national, and international laws related to: – Textile and rugs industry standards – Product labeling, safety & environmental regulations – Import/export, customs & trade compliance – Consumer protection and e-commerce regulations – Data protection and privacy laws Monitor legal updates affecting the textiles/home décor industry. 3. Intellectual Property (IP) ProtectionManage trademark registrations for rug designs, patterns, and brand assets. Protect copyrights for original designs and artwork. Take action against infringements, counterfeit goods, or unauthorized reproductions. 4. Dispute Resolution & Litigation SupportHandle customer, supplier, and vendor disputes. Liaise with external counsel on litigation or arbitration matters. Manage notices, legal correspondence, and represent the company in legal forums as needed. 5. Corporate GovernanceDraft and maintain internal policies (company code of conduct, anti-corruption, data privacy, etc.). Support board and senior management on governance and compliance matters. Maintain legal records and documentation. 6. Employment Law AdvisoryPrepare employment contracts, NDAs, and confidentiality agreements. Advise on HR policies, termination, disciplinary action, and labor compliance. 7. Risk ManagementIdentify legal risks and provide solutions to mitigate them. Conduct due diligence for new business partners, suppliers, or acquisitions. Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Law (LLB); Master’s degree (LLM) preferred. Minimum 3–7 years of legal experience (industry experience in textiles, manufacturing, or retail is a plus). Strong knowledge of commercial and corporate law. Experience with IP law and international trade regulations preferred. Excellent drafting, analytical, and negotiation skills. Ability to work independently and support business teams across departments.
