Lead Data Scientist

.As a Lead Data Scientist, you will drive the design, development, and deployment of cutting-edge AI and machine learning solutions, including GenAI-powered systems and NLP applications. You will lead a high-performing, global team, mentoring junior data scientists while shaping AI strategy and best practices across projects. Your work will span the entire data science lifecycle—from problem identification and model development to deployment and performance monitoring. Accountabilities
- Define AI and machine learning strategy, tooling choices, and best practices for model building, prompt engineering, and vector retrieval systems
- Architect, develop, and deploy large-scale ML and GenAI products and pipelines
- Lead all stages of data science projects, including requirement gathering, exploratory data analysis, model benchmarking, validation, and production deployment
- Mentor and guide junior data scientists, fostering skill development and a culture of innovation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely delivery of high-value AI solutions
- Establish coding standards, perform code reviews, and optimize workflows for efficiency and scalability
- Drive monitoring, scaling, and operational strategies for production models and services
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Llama), prompt engineering, fine-tuning/customization, and embedding-based retrieval
- Expert proficiency in Python (NumPy, Pandas, SpaCy, scikit-learn, PyTorch/TF2, Hugging Face Transformers)
- Deep understanding of ML & Deep Learning architectures for NLP, GNNs, and multimodal systems
- Strong grasp of statistics, probability, and mathematical foundations of AI
- Proven experience leading at least one end-to-end GenAI or advanced NLP project (custom NER, table extraction, Q&A, summarization, OCR integrations, or GNN solutions)
- Familiarity with orchestration and deployment tools (Redis, Flask/Django/FastAPI, SQL, R-Shiny/Dash/Streamlit)
- Advanced degree (Master's or PhD preferred) in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
- 6+ years of relevant experience in Data Science/AI, with at least 2 years in a leadership role
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Prior experience in financial, market intelligence, or risk analytics domains is a plus
- Contributions to open-source projects, GitHub, Kaggle, technical blogs, or publications are desirable
