Your Role at Baxter:
The Lead Data Consultant is responsible for coordinating with all internal and external stakeholders providing various, complex, and detailed data analysis for all applicable operational areas and/or departments. The individual is responsible for effectively identifying and communicating, interdepartmentally, issues and resolutions by effectively applying process-improvement and/or problem-solving techniques. The Lead Data Consultant provides analytic and reporting leadership to the organization and makes well-informed business decisions about our data, consistent with current trends in the healthcare industry. This role will exist in the Baxter Data Governance Organization.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Performs data analysis at many levels: 1) ad-hoc, on demand investigation of immediate data quality issues, 2) forensic analysis, 3) designing and developing visual analytical presentations that provides insight about data quality, and 4) making suggestions on the proper data sets to use for situational assignments
- Creates and/or catalogs data quality rules
- Performs source to target mapping
- Assists end-users, Business Owners and Information Technology departments with interpretation of data, reports, and analytical results
- Performs data quality assessments on proposed data feeds or on existing files and repositories, utilizing manual query methods, visual observation, and/or data profiling tools, resulting in new processes or standards to improve data quality
- Champions and contributes to data glossary terms and definitions; research and studies applicable standards to apply, ensuring crystal clear definitions of data elements
- Acts as a data subject matter expert to assist data consumers on proper data selections
- Provides knowledge transfer about the organization’s data to end users
- Understands Business Requirements Documents, resulting in detailed input into the design of new tables and data structures
- Assists in creating and teaching data usage training sessions (data boot camps)
- Develops data related Policies & Procedures utilizing various mediums, including but not limited to flow-chart mapping and written narratives
- Actively participates in Data Governance efforts, contributing to the decision-making process
- Mentors and provides technical guidance to the team
- Performs other duties as assigned
What You'll Bring:
- 6+ years or relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, alternatively candidates with 8+ years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Master’s degree preferred
- Knowledge of data quality assessment techniques, reference data management, aggregation and drill down concepts. Data Management best practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining a constant focus on data quality-improvement
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
- Self-Starter and/or minimal supervision needed to succeed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Subject Matter expertise in one of the following areas is a plus: Clinical, Financial, Manufacturing, Sales, or Marketing
- Strong experience in SQL, Data Visualization tools or Data Modeling is a plus
