Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced
ITOM Tools Expert (SolarWinds)
to lead the deployment, configuration, and optimization of the
SolarWinds monitoring suite
across our enterprise infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in SolarWinds modules, ensuring proactive monitoring, effective alerting, and comprehensive performance insights across networks, servers, applications, and databases. This role plays a crucial part in strengthening IT operations, observability, and automation.
Key Responsibilities
SolarWinds Platform Management
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the SolarWinds suite, including NPM, SAM, SRM, VMAN, DPA, WPM, NCM, IPAM, and Log Analyzer.
- Design, deploy, configure, and maintain SolarWinds environments for optimal performance, scalability, and data retention.
- Create and fine-tune custom alerts, thresholds, and dashboards to deliver actionable insights.
- Conduct regular system health checks, upgrades, and database optimization.
- Ensure SolarWinds data accuracy, performance tuning, and integration stability.
Monitoring & Observability Enhancement
- Identify monitoring gaps and develop enhanced visibility using SolarWinds modules.
- Analyze metrics and trends to forecast capacity, detect anomalies, and optimize performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, server, application, database) for system onboarding and monitoring coverage.
Integration & Automation
- Integrate SolarWinds with ITSM/ITOM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Splunk) for incident correlation and process automation.
- Develop scripts (PowerShell, Python) for automation, API integration, and data extraction.
Documentation & Training
- Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, policies, and operational procedures.
- Conduct user training and provide technical guidance to IT operations teams.
- Stay updated with emerging SolarWinds features, updates, and best practices.
Problem Resolution & Support
- Serve as an L3 escalation point for complex monitoring or performance issues.
- Coordinate with SolarWinds vendor support for advanced troubleshooting and resolution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5–7 years of hands-on experience in SolarWinds administration and monitoring in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Proven expertise across multiple SolarWinds modules (NPM, SAM, SRM, VMAN, DPA, WPM, NCM).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols (SNMP, NetFlow, sFlow, JFlow), Windows/Linux servers, and SQL Server databases (including queries and tuning).
- Experience with scripting and API integrations (PowerShell, Python).
- Familiarity with ITIL framework processes (Incident, Problem, Change, Event Management).
- SolarWinds Certified Professional (SCP) certification preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within collaborative teams in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating SolarWinds with cloud or hybrid environments (AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of other monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Splunk, etc.) is a plus.
