Job Summary

Sambodhi Research and Communications Private Limited is seeking an Impact Evaluation Specialist to provide technical leadership in the design, statistical sampling, analysis, and implementation of impact evaluations and process monitoring assessments. The role involves leading evaluation design and analytical approaches, overseeing sampling strategies, guiding data analysis, and contributing to high-quality report writing across deliverables. The position also requires close coordination with project teams and stakeholders to ensure rigorous, timely, and policy-relevant evaluation outputs.

Essential Functions

The candidate will perform the following key functions:


Project Management & Coordination

  • Support client and stakeholder interactions and serve as a key technical point of contact under the guidance of the Senior Impact Evaluation Specialist.
  • Coordinate day-to-day project activities, including liaison with field, data, and support teams across levels.
  • Assist in the preparation of resource plans covering human, financial, and time requirements for evaluation activities.
  • Contribute to the timely completion and submission of project deliverables in line with agreed timelines and quality standards.

Research Design & Methodology

  • Provide technical inputs to the design of impact evaluation frameworks, survey methodologies, and econometric approaches.
  • Support the development, pre-testing, refinement, and finalization of data collection instruments and field protocols.
  • Assist in the implementation of sampling strategies, including sample size calculations, stratification, and sample distribution.

Field Operations & Data Collection

  • Conduct and monitor field trainings, pilot testing, and debriefing sessions to ensure adherence to protocols and data quality standards.
  • Coordinate with field teams to address implementation challenges related to tools, sampling, and data collection processes.

Data Management & Analysis

  • Prepare data analysis plans and assist in defining estimation strategies, variable construction, and quality checks.
  • Conduct quantitative and econometric analysis using statistical software such as STATA, SPSS, SAS, Excel.

Report Writing and Knowledge Product Dissemination

  • Draft analytical sections of evaluation reports, including methods, results, and interpretation of findings.
  • Support senior team members in reviewing and finalizing reports and knowledge products.
  • Contribute to the development of learning notes, presentations, and dissemination materials for internal and external stakeholders.

Desired profile :

Education

Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in economics, statistics, Mathematics, or BTech in Data Sciences from a reputed and top-ranked university. Specialization in advanced econometric techniques for impact evaluation will be preferred.

Experience

At least 7-10 years of experience in M&E, with 3 years of experience in handling large sample impact evaluations using experimental and quasi-experimental methods (and at least 2 prior studies as author and lead) in rural livelihoods and enterprises. Proven track record in M&E and experience in conducting rigorous program evaluations.


Key Skills and Attributes

  • Fluency with both quantitative and qualitative research
  • Professional fluency in oral and written English and Tamil is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of MS office, STATA, or other statistical packages for data analysis
  • Willing to travel across different geographies
