Job Overview

Hotel Accountant


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform

    daily income journal loading

    and reconcile revenues with supporting reports from property management systems (PMS).
  • Manage

    bank reconciliations

    across multiple hotel accounts, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support

    month-end close activities

    including accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and intercompany allocations.
  • Maintain accurate

    general ledger entries

    , trial balance, and balance sheet schedules.
  • Process and monitor

    accounts payable (AP)

    — vendor invoices, utility bills, and expense reimbursements.
  • Handle

    accounts receivable (AR)

    — guest ledger, city ledger, and third-party billing reconciliations.
  • Oversee

    multi-currency accounting transactions

    , ensuring compliance with foreign exchange policies.
  • Prepare and validate

    financial statements, P&L reports, and variance analysis

    for multiple properties.
  • Ensure proper

    revenue recognition

    in line with US GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Reconcile

    credit card settlements

    and investigate chargebacks or disputes.
  • Monitor

    cash flow

    for assigned hotels and prepare daily cash reports.
  • Liaise with

    auditors (internal and external)

    and provide necessary schedules and documentation.
  • Collaborate with

    US-based hotel management teams

    on financial queries and reporting.
  • Support

    compliance with tax regulations, licensing, and hotel-specific reporting requirements

    .
  • Drive

    process improvements

    by identifying gaps and implementing accounting best practices.
  • Ensure

    internal controls

    are followed for safeguarding hotel assets and minimizing financial risk.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in

    Accounting, Finance, or related field

    .
  • Minimum 3 years of US Hotel Accounting experience

    is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of

    income audit, AP/AR, reconciliations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities

    .
  • Experience with

    multi-currency accounting

    and handling multiple hotel/resort portfolios.
  • Proficiency in

    Excel

    and hotel-specific accounting software (e.g., M3, QuickBooks, Yardi, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with US stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently with accountability.
