Head of Legal - Allianz Services

Summary:

Responsible for leading and guiding the Legal, Corporate Governance and Contract Management SMEs to ensure alignment with organizational requirements. Provide proactive legal support and strategic advice to business units and key stakeholders across the company’s offices in India, enabling them to achieve their core objectives while effectively managing and mitigating associated legal risks. Acts as Legal function’s primary point of contact for local management, regional legal leaders, and the central legal function

Qualifications:

• Minimum 10-15 years of post-qualification experience, including significant in-house legal leadership experience, preferably in the IT, ITES, sector
• Strong expertise in contracts, litigation management, employment laws, Anti-Corruption, Anti-Fraud, data protection/privacy laws, and commercial dispute resolution.
• Proven ability to balance legal risks with commercial objectives in a fast-paced, complex business environment.

Required Education / Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); LL.M preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal advice to the senior management and business units on a wide range of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues.
• Develop and implement the company’s legal strategy aligned with business goals
• Lead, mentor, and manage the Legal, corporate governance and the contract management teams to ensure high-quality, timely, and practical legal support across all functions.
• Provide advice to senior management on legal and regulatory issues. Advising all departments on matters involving applicable laws

• Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that where Corporate, Statutory, Corporate, and other Legal risks are identified and advice on mitigation plans
• Review internal policies from a legal perspective and take corrective actions on legal implications of internal policies and procedures. Manage Policy governance office.
• Develop and implement legal policies, SoPs, agreement templates, and processes to drive efficiency and risk mitigation.
• Handle dispute resolution, litigation, and regulatory proceedings, working with external counsel as necessary.
• Support M&A transactions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and other corporate projects.
• Engage and communicate with the Central and Regional functions.
• Review different commercial and procurement contracts and other related legal documents and ensure compliance of company's internal risk parameters
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business and proactively advise the management on emerging risks and opportunities.
• Establish and manage a robust end to end contract management process.
• Responsible for Awareness campaigns within the India organization; Managing Legal Corporate Risks; Managing the budget of the function; Managing resilience of the function; Managing hiring and performance management for the team members; Managing all supervisory requirements to ensure objectives of the function
