Group Manager – Brake system: Pneumatics and Electrical installation,

This group, under Chassis, Vehicle Engineering within Group Trucks Technologies, is responsible for the following areas: pneumatic and electrical installation and its components, as well as the complete end-to-end product development lifecycle for Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in North America, and Mack Trucks range in Australia and European Medium Duty markets. This includes detailed development of all associated components, from building system and component roadmaps, ideation during the advanced engineering phase, concept evolution, and detailed development for integration into the vehicle stream at specific introduction blocks. Additionally, the group manages maintenance topics throughout the product's lifecycle, covering all aspects related to sustainability.The team handles pneumatic component layout, pneumatic and electrical component installation, component development, and 1D simulation for different brands, including Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in North America, as well as Mack Trucks range in Australia and European Medium Duty, all under the Volvo Group.The team as a part of CVDE BLR department, closely works with other CVDE sites of Gothenburg, Lyon, Greensboro, Curitiba along with other alliance and JV partners, other business units delivering design, development work under its scope. The groups collaborate within section as well as with other engineering teams within Technology, Electromobility, Vehicle engineering, Powertrain engineering along with other cross functional teams to secure the vehicle level deliveries in the responsible areas.This group comes under SAS-BSVC Section, of Chassis Bangalore, under Vehicle Engineering, Group Trucks Technologies, which is responsible for 6 groups working in Steering system, Non-driven axle, suspension, Disc & Drum Brakes, Hubs, Wheels & Tires, Pneumatic and Electrical InstallationWe are continuously strengthening product and area ownership, promoting efficient ways of working, and maintaining a high agile pace in delivering product improvements. At the same time, we aim to create and sustain a culture of passion and trust, where we work together and support each other in our daily tasks.As part of CVDE, we have reorganized ourselves to be more future-ready, and in this journey, we are seeking a Group Manager with a passion for leading both technology and people.

Your future responsibilities?

As a Group Manager,
  • You are responsible for ensuring the quality of deliveries and technological developments within the group, in close collaboration with sister groups within the section, both locally and globally.
  • You are responsible for managing the budget, resources, workload, recruitment, and overall team development to meet current and future needs.
  • You define roles within the team, establish individual and team targets, and set salaries in consultation with the Section Manager and Chief Engineer.
  • You shall contribute to or lead relevant technical decision-making committees, working closely with cross-functional teams, including vehicle and technology streams, utilizing global architecture, components, and interfaces to maximize output.
  • You shall work with and direct the teams with a customer-centric mindset, driving engineering leadership from conceptualization through to maintenance of the systems and components, including addressing field failures and end-customer complaints.
  • You shall interface with and participate in PI planning with other sites, ensuring commitments towards deliveries. You will maintain close interactions with other site managers to plan and adjust for any necessary changes.
  • You shall foster an innovation culture and encourage the team’s contributions to advanced engineering, product, and system roadmaps for future product evolutions.
  • You will drive operational excellence, continuously improving your ways of working to enhance delivery efficiency. You will identify and implement best practices in engineering processes and support the execution of strategies for powertrain installation areas.
  • As a primay member of the CVDE management team, you shall identify, participate in, and contribute to various management initiatives focused on people and business growth, including GTT Bangalore site initiatives. You will play a vital role in implementing the culture transformation journey to meet organizational expectations and goals.
You will be part of the CVDE Leadership Team, reporting to the Section Manager – SAS-BSVC, CVDE Bangalore, and playing an important role in contributing to the vision, strategy, and be part of the overall growth story.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, with strong knowledge in design and development on chassis components along with strong manufacturing process knowledge
  • Min 14+ year experience from product development, preferably in the automotive industry.
