Role Overview
The Manufacturing Site IT Lead will be responsible for managing and delivering all IT services at our pharmaceutical manufacturing facility (GLS). This individual will serve as the key technology leader for the site, ensuring smooth operation of plant IT systems, regulatory compliance (GxP), cybersecurity readiness, and enabling digital transformation initiatives in alignment with corporate IT and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- IT Operations & Service Delivery
- Ensure uninterrupted operation of IT infrastructure, network, and applications at the manufacturing site.
- Manage incident, problem, and change management processes aligned with ITIL best practices.
- Oversee local IT service desk activities and ensure support for end-users with minimal or zero downtime.
- Coordinate with central IT to maintain corporate standards and SLAs.
- Manufacturing & Shop-floor Systems
- Own and manage IT administration of GMP-critical systems
- Ensure data integrity, audit trails, system backups, and disaster recovery solutions for critical manufacturing and quality systems.
- Partner with Site Engineering, Manufacturing, and QA functions to support validated systems in line with compliance requirements.
- Governance, Compliance & Security
- Ensure site-level compliance with GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and relevant pharma regulatory guidelines.
- Work with corporate cybersecurity teams to implement and monitor IT security measures, patch management, and risk mitigation.
- Represent IT for the site and ensure timely remediation of gaps.
- Stakeholder & Vendor Management
- Act as the single IT point of contact for the Site Head, Plant Leadership Team, and business functions.
- Collaborate with central IT to roll out enterprise applications and digital initiatives.
- Manage site IT vendors and contracts, ensuring compliance with quality, safety, and service commitments.
- IT Strategy & Transformation
- Drive automation, digital manufacturing (Industry 4.0), and paperless initiatives within the facility.
- Provide input to corporate IT & digital COE teams for shaping company-wide standards and roadmaps based on site needs.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related field.
- 6 - 12 years of IT experience, with minimum 5 years in pharma/chemical/life sciences manufacturing IT leadership.
- Strong knowledge of GxP systems validation, CSV (Computer System Validation), and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated expertise in supporting automation systems (MES, LIMS, PLC/SCADA, DCS) and enterprise applications (SAP, ERP, QMS, etc.).
- Skilled in IT Operations/Service Management, preferably ITIL-certified.
- Experience implementing cybersecurity frameworks within OT/Manufacturing IT environments.
- Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and vendor management skills.
