Job Description

Job Summary:

The General Manager – Quality is responsible for leading and overseeing the entire quality function across all manufacturing operations, including incoming, in-process, and final inspection. The role ensures that all products consistently meet customer, statutory, and internal quality standards. The GM–Quality drives a culture of continuous improvement, zero defects, and customer satisfaction throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:Strategic & Leadership:

  • Define, implement, and maintain the organization’s Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO/IATF standards.
  • Lead the quality team to achieve zero-defect manufacturing and high customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and monitor quality KPIs (rejection rate, rework, customer complaints, etc.).
  • Develop and implement quality strategies and policies aligned with business goals.
  • Lead customer and third-party audits; ensure compliance with all relevant quality standards.
  • Drive initiatives for continual improvement, process control, and cost reduction.
  • Mentor and develop quality engineers, inspectors, and technicians.

Operational:

  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities to ensure product conformity.
  • Review and approve control plans, inspection plans, and process validation documents.
  • Ensure robust implementation of root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) for non-conformances.
  • Coordinate with production, design, and maintenance teams for quality improvement and problem resolution.
  • Manage calibration of all measuring instruments, gauges, and CMMs.
  • Ensure traceability and documentation for all quality records, test reports, and certifications.
  • Lead supplier quality management activities including supplier audits and material approval.
  • Monitor and respond to customer complaints and feedback, ensuring timely resolution and preventive measures.
  • Implement and promote 5S, Kaizen, SPC, and Lean manufacturing practices within the quality function.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Metallurgical, or Industrial Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in quality management, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role in foundry, machining, or automotive components manufacturing.
  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Strong understanding of casting, machining, and metallurgical processes.
  • Expertise in GD&T, CMM inspection, SPC, PPAP, APQP, FMEA, and MSA.
  • Proven track record in leading audits and achieving customer approvals.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, ERP systems, and quality data analysis tools.
