Job Description

State of Digital Publishing (SODP) is looking for a full-time full stack engineer with 2-4 years experience. Reporting to the technical lead, you will oversee the optimisation of websites and work on the latest CMS technologiesSODP is a start-up market research publisher focused on building a community for digital media publishing professionals and content and media owners. Our vision is to discover and foster sustainable digital media publishing models and, to do that, we’ve made it our mission to build a community that practically supports its members and is built on a foundation of educational content and research.Flexible work schedules, a relaxed culture, training, and development time (with rewards), and remote work make SODP a fun place to work. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Website Creation: Develop and build responsive and visually appealing websites for clients, ensuring they align with marketing and branding objectives.
  • Front-end Development: Implement HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other front-end technologies to create interactive and user-friendly web interfaces.
  • Content Management System (CMS): Integrate, customize, and maintain CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) for clients' websites.
  • Mobile Responsiveness: Ensure websites are optimized for mobile devices and tablets, providing a seamless user experience across various screen sizes.
  • Cross-Browser Compatibility: Verify that websites function correctly and appear consistently across different web browsers.
  • Performance Optimization: Improve website speed, performance, and page load times to enhance user experience and SEO rankings.
  • SEO Integration: Implement on-page SEO best practices, such as meta tags, schema markup, and friendly URLs.
  • Implement security protocols and best practices to protect websites from threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Regularly update and maintain websites to ensure they are current, secure, and free from issues.
  • Team Coordination: Collaborate with design, content, and marketing teams to align development efforts with project goals and objectives.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to gather requirements, provide updates on development progress, and address client feedback.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues related to website functionality and performance.
  • Code Standards: Adhere to coding best practices and standards to ensure the quality and maintainability of the codebase.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in web development and digital marketing.

EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES

  • Basic knowledge of WordPress, HubSpot, Webflow, and other CMS platforms. Should be able to edit pages, posts, taxonomies, tracking codes, and perform other basic customizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of PHP, MYSQL, JS(jQuery), CSS, and HTML.
  • Understanding of key SEO elements such as meta tags, schema markup, robots.txt configuration, indexing, Google Search Console (GSC), Google Analytics (GA) and other SEO concepts.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience in Web development and optimisations — must be comfortable with tech and core tech concepts.
  • Ability to prioritise, multitask, and work with minimal supervision in a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • A self-starter with the ability to grasp requirements quickly.
  • A continuous learner.
  • Comfortable with web development and debugging tools.
  • Track record in writing custom code and logical code.
  • Integrate a wide range of WordPress plugins, API calls, and third-party apps and forms.
  • Follow SEO best practices for website development.
