Job Description: As a Safety Officer at Exotica, you will be responsible for ensuring strict compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations at the site level. Your role will involve proactively identifying risks, conducting regular safety audits, and fostering a strong culture of safety across our commercial construction projects. Key Responsibilities:- EHS Compliance & Regulation Stay current with national and state-level EHS regulations related to the construction and real estate sector (e.g., BOCW Act, Environmental Protection Act, etc.). Ensure company policies and construction site operations comply with applicable legal and statutory safety regulations. Coordinate with local authorities during audits, inspections, and permit processes. Policy & Procedure Development Develop, implement, and review site-specific EHS policies, SOPs, and safety manuals. Ensure clear communication of safety standards and procedures to engineers, labor contractors, and all site personnel. Update protocols in accordance with changes in law or operational risks. Risk Assessment & Site Hazard Management Conduct periodic HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) for ongoing and upcoming construction activities. Identify and assess risks related to scaffolding, excavation, electrical safety, working at height, material handling, etc. Implement preventive control measures and enforce Permit to Work (PTW) systems for high-risk activities. Incident Investigation & Response Investigate all incidents, accidents, and near-miss events to identify root causes and implement corrective/preventive actions. Maintain proper documentation and reporting of all incidents as per legal and internal norms. Ensure availability and maintenance of first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and emergency equipment on-site. Training, Awareness & Induction Conduct safety inductions for new site workers and contractors. Organize periodic training programs on PPE usage, electrical safety, working at heights, fire safety, first aid, etc. Lead Toolbox Talks and daily safety briefings with field staff. Emergency Preparedness Design and test site-specific emergency response plans, including evacuation drills, fire drills, and rescue operations. Coordinate with external emergency services like fire departments or local hospitals if needed. Monitoring & Reporting Track EHS KPIs such as incident frequency rate, lost-time injury frequency rate (LTIFR), and safety audit scores. Submit timely reports to senior management and regulatory bodies. Maintain documentation including safety inspection checklists, MSDS, site logs, and compliance registers. Continuous Improvement Promote a safety-first culture through awareness campaigns, posters, and reward programs. Benchmark EHS practices with industry standards and continuously improve the safety management system. Qualifications & Requirements Bachelors degree or Diploma in Engineering (preferably Civil/Mechanical) with specialization in Occupational Health & Safety or Environmental Science. Certification in NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, ADIS/PDIS or equivalent is highly desirable. Minimum 5+ years of EHS experience in real estate, high-rise construction. Sound knowledge of Indian labor laws, BOCW, National Building Code (NBC), and Environmental Rules. Familiarity with construction site safety standards (e.g., IS codes, CPWD/ISRO norms). Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to handle multiple construction sites and work in a fast-paced environment.
