Position Overview

Budget Control & Planning Manager


Key Responsibilities

  • Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Drive the preparation, consolidation, and monitoring of budgets and forecasts specific to the life insurance business (premium income, claims ratio, policy persistency, distribution expenses, etc.).
  • Track financial performance against targets, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct P&L variance analysis and business performance reviews across different insurance products and distribution channels.
  • Prepare MIS, dashboards, and management presentations tailored to regulatory and business requirements.
  • Benchmark performance against industry peers to support strategic planning and competitive positioning.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Focus

  • Ensure financial planning and reporting processes are aligned with IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) guidelines.
  • Support solvency ratio monitoring, actuarial reporting, and statutory financial submissions.
  • Process Improvement & Business Partnering

  • Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency in financial reporting and planning processes.
  • Partner with actuarial, claims, underwriting, and distribution teams to align budgets with business realities.
  • Provide data-driven insights to senior management for decision-making.


Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA/CA preferred).
  • 5–8 years of experience in

    Financial Planning & Analysis / Budget Control

    within the

    Life Insurance / BFSI domain

    .
  • Strong knowledge of insurance financial metrics (premium, claims ratio, persistency, solvency, commissions, etc.).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (advanced Excel modeling and PowerPoint presentations).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across functions.
