Job Title: ETL Tester – Functional Testing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced ETL Tester with a minimum of 5 years in data validation, functional testing, and end-to-end ETL workflow testing. The ideal candidate should possess a strong grasp of data warehousing principles, SQL, and business intelligence/reporting tools.

This position requires hands-on involvement across a modern data stack that includes:

SQL Server (DB Initial, Logs Delta) → Fivetran → Amazon S3 (Raw Layer: Parquet Files, Iceberg Table Format) → Databricks (ETL) → Snowflake (Curated Layer: Facts/Dimensions) → Data Visualization Tools.

Note:

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute functional testing for complex ETL pipelines and data integration workflows.
• Validate data transformation logic, source-to-target data flow, and ensure data integrity.
• Develop and run complex SQL queries to perform thorough data validation.
• Design comprehensive test plans including scenarios, cases, and datasets for ETL processes.
• Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and developers to understand business requirements and resolve issues.
• Conduct system integration, regression, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
• Log and manage defects using standard defect tracking tools, ensuring timely resolution.
• Maintain accurate test documentation, traceability matrices, and regular status reports.
• Uphold data quality standards and compliance across all testing activities.

Required Skills:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in ETL and Data Warehouse testing
• Strong command of functional testing techniques and best practices
• Proficiency in SQL (including joins, aggregations, subqueries, etc.)
• Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DataStage)
• Familiarity with BI/reporting tools like Power BI, Tableau, or Cognos (optional)
• Hands-on experience with defect management tools (e.g., JIRA, ALM, Bugzilla)
• Solid understanding of data modeling, mapping, and transformation concepts
• Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies

Good to Have:

• Experience with automation testing for ETL using tools like Python, Selenium, or data-focused frameworks
• Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance regulations

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline
