Job Description

ideaForge is the leader in industrial and surveillance UAV manufacturing in India with more than 50% market share. The organization was established in 2007 by IIT-Bombay alumni and is based out of Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra. ideaForge co-designed India’s first Surveillance quadrotor UAV, NETRA with the Defence Research & Development Organization (DRDO) and is also responsible for engineering the then world’s lightest Autopilot.

ideaForge develops completely indigenous technology for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). Our organization is the pioneer in the UAS segment in India and has multiple IPs to its credit. Our in-house R&D, design, manufacturing, software, services, and training operations give us the flexibility to customize products for an array of requirements. We are continually innovating and experimenting to transform our aerial platforms to offer greater performance, higher reliability, and autonomy.

At ideaForge, our principle behind everything we design, and build is creating an impact – making the world a better and safer place. With this principle as our cornerstone, we have developed UAVs with unmatched global specifications. With this philosophy, we have consistently helped Indian Defense, Paramilitary & Police forces ensure the safety of our citizens and ultimately save precious lives.

Position Overview

We are seeking an Experienced EMI/EMC Simulation Engineer to join our advanced electronics design team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing simulation-driven EMI/EMC analysis, validating compliance with international standards, and supporting PCB design and development cycles to ensure robust electromagnetic compatibility. The role requires strong expertise in EMI/EMC simulation tools, PCB layout design (preferably in Altium Designer), and practical experience in mitigating EMI/EMC issues across embedded, high-speed, and power electronics systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform EMI/EMC simulations and analysis for electronic circuits, subsystems, and full systems (signal integrity, power integrity, radiated & conducted emissions, susceptibility).
  • Define, implement, and optimize design strategies for EMI/EMC compliance in high-speed digital, RF, power, and mixed-signal PCB designs.
  • Support PCB layout design and development in Altium Designer with a focus on EMC best practices (stack-up design, return paths, decoupling, grounding, shielding, filtering).
  • Collaborate with hardware design, PCB layout, and system engineering teams to incorporate EMC mitigation techniques early in the design phase.
  • Conduct post-layout verification using simulation tools and prepare design validation reports.
  • Work with test and compliance teams to correlate simulation results with lab measurements and iterate improvements.
  • Contribute to design guidelines, checklists, and process improvements for EMI/EMC robustness in future projects.
  • Participate in DFM/DFX reviews ensuring compliance with EMC/EMI requirements and international standards (CISPR, IEC, MIL-STD, DO-160, FCC).
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong expertise in EMI/EMC simulation methodologies (radiated/conducted emissions, crosstalk, common-mode currents, shielding, filtering).
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as CST Studio Suite, ANSYS HFSS/SIwave, HyperLynx, Keysight ADS, SPICE-based simulators.
  • Deep knowledge of PCB design and layout development in Altium Designer, including constraint-driven design and rule-based checks.
  • Hands-on experience with signal integrity (SI), power integrity (PI), thermal analysis, and EMI/EMC correlation with measurements.
  • Familiarity with high-speed interfaces (DDR, USB, HDMI, PCIe, Ethernet) and switch-mode power supply designs.
  • Strong understanding of grounding, shielding, filtering, decoupling, and PCB stack-up optimization for EMC compliance.
  • Ability to interpret and apply EMC/EMI standards (CISPR 25/32, DO-160, MIL-STD-461, IEC 61000 series, FCC Part 15).
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in EMI/EMC failure analysis.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with ability to present technical findings to cross-functional teams.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in EMI/EMC simulation, PCB design, and compliance engineering.
  • Proven experience with Altium Designer for layout development, schematic capture, and design verification.
  • Experience in test correlation with EMC labs and implementing design modifications based on test outcomes.
  • Prior exposure to aerospace, defense, automotive, or high-speed electronics domains is a strong plus.
Preferred Tool Experience
  • Simulation: CST Studio Suite, ANSYS SIwave/HFSS, HyperLynx, Keysight ADS.
  • PCB Design: Altium Designer (mandatory), Cadence Allegro (optional).
  • Lab/Test: Spectrum Analyzers, EMI Receivers, Oscilloscopes, LISNs, TEM/GTEM cells.
