Director of Engineering

Key Responsibilities

• Technology Strategy & Vision:

  You'll set the technical roadmap and vision for the engineering teams, making critical decisions on architecture, technology stack, and engineering methodologies. You'll drive the implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure systems that handle high-volume transactions and sensitive financial data.

• Engineering Team Leadership:

  You'll build, mentor, and manage a team of engineers and engineering managers. Your responsibilities include talent acquisition, performance management, career development, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  You'll act as a key liaison between the engineering team and other departments, including Product, Finance, Operations, and Legal/Compliance. You'll translate business requirements into technical solutions and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Fintech & Compliance Expertise:

  You will be accountable for ensuring all technical systems adhere to strict financial regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, KYC, AML). You'll oversee the implementation of robust security measures, risk mitigation strategies, and disaster recovery plans.

Qualifications

• Education:

  Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

• Experience:

  12+ years of progressive experience in software development, with at least 3-5 years in a senior engineering leadership or management role.

• Technical Acumen:

  Deep understanding of and proven experience with modern software architecture, including

  microservices

  and

  cloud technologies

  (e.g., AWS, GCP). You should be proficient in multiple programming languages and have experience with developing and executing playbooks for high-volume, low-latency distributed systems.

• Leadership Skills:

  Proven ability to lead, motivate, and scale high-performing engineering teams. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and manage stakeholders at all levels.

• Fintech Domain Knowledge:

  Strong knowledge of the fintech industry, including an understanding of payment systems, financial data processing, and cybersecurity best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Experience in a

  start-up or scale-up environment

  , building products from the ground up and navigating rapid growth.
• Strong understanding of

  DevOps

  , data management concepts, and cloud-native practices.
• Experience in a highly-regulated industry, with direct experience in a fintech, banking, or payments company.
• A track record of managing third-party vendors and external integrations.
